Been listening to Aqualung, damn its a good album, fave song so far Cross-Eyed Mary Im late but nice to see their still going.
Until about 5 years ago i didn't know of them at all, i promised myself to check out their music and finally have, very impressed.
Cool i began to take notice of some older stuff about 5 years ago, was too young to appreciate the good bands during their time, but i now enjoy Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple... Better late than never i guess.
Thats what i admire about bands like those, decades pass and their music is still so respected, awesome material.
YES! Jethro Tull is excellent stuff. Everyone who reads this should also be sure to also check out other groups like pipes has mentioned Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Black Sabbath, and Deep Purple
LucianoFigallo, absolutely. kentuckyslone, i have a particular favourite song of Pink Floyd called Shine on you crazy diamond, very deep, very moving, i love it. Listening to The Doors is more recent for me, all of those mentioned are geniuses in what they do its a shame some of them passed away so young. I especially wonder how it would of been had Jimi Hendrix been around longer to release more material. Maybe they were meant to only be here briefly, i sometimes think that.
I LOVED early Tull. Up until 'Broadsword and the Beast' I bought all the early albums. Saw them twice, both times at Hammersmith Odeon in London.
Shine On You Crazy Diamond is an amazing tune. I find that you get the full impact of Pink Floyd albums by actually listening to the whole album in one sitting. Have you heard their album Animals? I find it to be one of their lesser-appreciated albums. You can only wonder at what Hendrix could have accomplished had he lived longer. Fortunately, he lives on through his music which influences nearly everyone who picks up a guitar.
I dont think ive heard that album yet, i will get hold of it soon. Your right Hendrix does live on through other musicians he has inspired so many.
When I first heard the name Jethro Tull, I thought it was the name of some hick country singer! Boy, was I ever wrong. A great band with great albums, that's for sure!
My dad likes them. He gave me the music he has of theirs a while back, not really listened to it though. Might do that now, kind of feel like listening to something new.
Oh, absolutely! They are now one of my favorite bands believe it or not. I'm surprised they aren't given more credit or respect.
Some old songs worth to listen (I'd say): Santana: Samba Pa Ti, Europa Dire Straits: Going Home Shadows: Albatros Abba: Chiqitita Simon & Garfunkel: Mr. Robinson, The Sound of Silence The song from the movie Deliverance Mostly guitar music, not exactly hard rock. That Chiqutita...I just liked it once, I mean, I'm not asking for red reps here.
I LOVE late sixties Tull, - The isle of wight DVD is fantastic (1970) But check this - them performing on the stones rock n roll circus - and the guitarist is Tony Iommi, just before he left to join Black Sabbath dig this kiddies........ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIbI6Yl8J_U
