    cheers!

i left my truck sitting around for two months.

then it would not turn. however, the radio powered on. flipped the lid and saw that the battery leaked a little bit. the posts were messy and the top of the battery was covered in juice. it did not drip onto the floor -- meaning the tray caught all the drip.

i cleaned up the posts and connectors with a scrub pad with baking soda/water. i filled up the eight battery holes with a little distilled water as per my truck manual. now the vehicle will not power anything. no radio even!

so, when the battery was messy the radio turned on but the engine would not turn.
after the battery was cleaned up nothing powers on. why?

    what should i do?
    jump?
    or get new battery?

    thx!

charge the battery up, when you added the water you diluted the acid, so now the battery is flat.

Keep one thing in your mind that if you don't want to use your car for more than a week then disconnect (remove connection) your battery.

the manual told me to put some water into it if the fluid levels are below a certain threshold. furthermore, i added about a pint.

    also -- important
the truck would not start after cleaning and before adding water.

battery acid makes the power, you added water, the lead in the battery turns the water into acid when fully chaged,

you need to change it now, and if you added a pint, then it is flat.

    charge the fucking battery

lol yea, charge your battery. You can expect your battery to hold a charge after sitting for 2 months, while connected. You diluted the remaining power in your battery, which was nothing, so now you have to charge it. Jump it and drive it around for a bit

i tested the battery and found it outputs 2volts and a huge fluctuating range of amps.
*edit* i believe the battery is supposed to output 12volts.

is charging the battery the same as jumping it?

i see there are car battery chargers that plug into my house outlet and charge car batteries.
    and there are jumper cables.

2 volts lol wont even power my Rabbit for an orgasm

get someone to jump start your car and drive around for 30 minutes, this will clean the rust off the brakes and get the oil pumped around too, and charge it. but dont rev up, or disconnect the jump leads for 5 minutes or it will die again.

hmmm our little square ones for the smoke detectors are only 9v are you sure your tester is working right?

its when you use the other setting that turns the ball bearings in the shaft and makes the head oscillate that runs them down fast

now i am. i did some research and learned i previously i had the meter set for alternating current. now that it is set for DC the used cell reads 6.5 volts. this cell was rejected by my smoke detector.
with the meter set at DC the car cell reads even lower -- 1.5 volts.

i have access to another vehicle but no jumper cables yet. tomorrow i will buy some.

this is quite a learning experience for me! and fun as well!

this truck is two years old and has not been turned on for three or four months (my initial time frame was wrong). is there anything else that i need to be on the lookout for? will the oil settle out of the engine? deformed tires?

    thank you so much!

your lucky my bro is a traffic cop.
    he says:
#1 the rubber on the tires well have lost its flexibility and maybe even crack.
#2 remove the spark plugs and turn the motor over for 1 second and wait one minute and turn it over for 5 seconds, then replace the spark plugs, this will get the oil around the motor without causing damage. and will pump the water around a little.

the hand brake might be frozen so just try and push the car without the brake on and see.

drive slow to a garage and put air in the tiers, about 2psi less than recommended, drive slow = under 30mph for the 1st day, after 10 miles put the rest of the air in the tires.
for the 1st 100 meters, feather the brake pedal, to clean the disks
