So, I'm #1 in Google - What's your take on that?

    Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie and have just started out with a site on cellphone advertising. When I search for the terms "Facebook ads is bad" and "Facebook enters the blackberry" - my site comes up at the #1 spot.

Now, my doubt is - is it a big deal? Have I achieved something or is it something that anyone can get, given the terms are not the most searched ones? Also, for the term "Facebook enters the blackberry", there are about 776,000 search results and for the term "Facebook ads is bad", there are about 6,810,000 search results. Does it mean that that many number of people have searched for that term? Could you explain?

For some of you these doubts might sound incredibly basic, but then I'm a newbie. :D So, I'd appreciate a detailed explanation. :)

    Thanks
    Kris

Not meaning to burst your bubble but those are pretty long tail keywords and long tail keywords are not as competitive. You probably didn't even target those.

This means Google has indexed 6,810,000 pages containing the keywords "Facebook ads is bad".

Too find the number of searches done on a particular phrase use the overture keyword tool: www.inventory.overture.com

As the terms you have pointed out are longtail you going to find there was probably no searches done for those terms.

As mentioned those are long tailed keywords

but you're on the right track - fill in your meta tags and tune your site and you'll come on the first page for more and more keywords

That means those 3 words are "somewhere" on that many pages.

If you do an allintitle:Facebook enters the blackberry you get just 3 results. And an allinanchor:"Facebook enters the blackberry" shows just 1 result which is you.

So this means you are really competing against yourself for this one sorry.

Thanks everyone for your valued opinions. Like I said, I'm a newbie and I was doubtful whether it was an achievement or not. Seems like it's not a big deal after all. ;) I'd like to thank all of you for your valuable time.

Keep trying, you have to start somewhere. Start moving on to pregressively harder keywords that bring more traffic. ;)

You are using long tail keywords, by the way that keywords of your do they have many searches per month?

Even if you rank for that it is still to consider the searches per month of the keywords and if the keyword is a competitive one....

So if you want to choose you keywords choose it wisely....Consider these two pointers:

1.) Is the keywords a competitive one?
    2. ) does that keyword have plenty of searches per month?

    Hope this helps..

As a fan of grammar, that is what I was thinking.

I never saw that tool before, so I tried to use it... Does it ever work? I started getting discouraged when it said "No suggestions" for terms specific to my sites, so I tried widely popular things and got the same result...

Those keyphrases don't show any traffic at all. In fact facebook ads shows nothing either.

Do some research and try to rank for keywords that pull traffic.

SERPs mean nothing if you are not getting traffic from it.

If you were #1 for just "facebook" you could retire!

Thanks very much guys. I value your opinions. :)

Magda and *77*, I first tried the term "Facebook ads is a bad idea", which I thought was a very long tail keyword, then I cut off the word idea and searched for the term "Facebook ads is bad", just to see where my site ranks, hence the confusion in grammar. I'm a sucker for grammar too, and thanks very much for pointing it out. It's nice to see you guys helping out a newbie like me. :)

Do you think that most users use this long tail keywords for searches? It's not so high competitive keywords. It's not a big deal. Try to achieved another high competitive keywords and if you do that, then I might say you it's a big deal.
