Good parenting overcomes the crap touted by liberal hippies teaching our kids.. Keep in mind, not all of them are like that.. As long as you take an active role in your child's education and be sure to stay on top of what is being taught, there is nothing to worry about.

We looked at private and public for my child.. The trip to the public school that changed our mind was they fact that there is a Christian presence and feel to the school and it's philosophy. While in the children's library we saw a copy of a children's "Bible"... It's nice to see some schools still reject the devaluation of common sense.

"Pay as you go" - That term seems to have been lost on our politicians.

    As for Mia's comments:

"Some in our country think that Social Security is a trust fund -- in other words, there's a pile of money being accumulated. That's just simply not true. The money -- payroll taxes going into the Social Security are spent. They're spent on benefits and they're spent on government programs. There is no trust."

This program was sufficient for people to live on, although meagerly. This has been accepted, just like welfare, as a way to protect people from absolute poverty. It is abused and misused by many, but the statement above shows how out of touch Bush and most other politicians are to the realities of the rest of the population. Most people, through bad judgment or misfortune, do not have enough to carry them through retirement.

Bush, with his huge trust fund, can rant all he wants, but it's hard to believe he knows what it's like to live on the edge.

Parents are effectively banned from playing any role in education. We pulled ours from public school after just 2 months. You don't have to control over anything whatsoever, an appointment with the teacher has to be made a month in advance, and is pointless anyway because the law bans teachers from complying with your requests
On a few occasions I was even threatened with violence, it's absolutely unbvelievable. Yet they are sincerely surprised and shocked that we decided to homeschool

Well, as long as Americans stay willfully ignorant, subject to propaganda and apathetic, yeah, it's going down the tubes.

Public Education has done more to dumb down the population than anything else. Even more than television.

Good for you. Homeschooled children generally outperform kids from public education, and have an easier transition into the adult world.

There are sure a lot of taxes. It's possible some people making like $50,000 a year are paying more than 50% of their incomes in taxes.

    federal income tax
    payroll tax
    state income taxes
local income tax in places like New York City
    local property taxes
    local sales taxes
excise tax on alcohol and cigarettes
numerous miscellaneous taxes such as vehicle license fees and federal gas taxes

It's actually more like 90% when you take hidden taxes into consideration. There is about 40 of them priced into a slice of pizza. Civil disorder would be unavoidable, if Joe Sixpack wasn't so dumbed down
    Italian mafia pales in comparison

Yeah, I would say the average American is in excess of 50%, more like 60-90% on average, if you take into consideration, all taxes...

A six pack has about a $1.50 in taxes and $3.20 for a pizza.

It's crazy. Parking tickets. Parking meters. Fines for overdue books. Doesn't stop.
