server issues... i think i'm having those right now with one of my larger sites. good post i guess, motivates me to think about getting one more hosting account @ host gator!

 

I posted this same question on your blog... How can you tell if the server is holding you back? When I visit my sites, they are quite responsive... What are the "symptoms" that I have to be looking for?

MFAs work on apis which means there are millions of pages to be indexed, if the server can't keep up with the site then its held back and you won't achieve the site's true potential.

 

You should edit the first image and edit out the site address from the google search results or you might get yourself in trouble with google By the way, your site is still slow as hell - it took more than a minute for the site to load...

 

Yep thats my point, more then 400 sql queries per 30 seconds
and growing im considering a whole new server for this soon

 

You should optimize the sql usage and minimize the number of queries... I also have sites (not MFAs) that are very large and require a lot of sql queries to run for every page so I add redundancy to the tables so that I would be able to minimize the number of queries required. For example, instead of running a join on two tables (categories and products) when selecting all products for a particular category, I add category id field to the products table... etc. Also, create indexes for ALL fields you use in search and join conditions this alone will give you around 30% speed boost.

Congrats for getting that much amount in a very short span. You had tell some thing about this, but i didn't understand what you told in this discussion.

 

Thanks, the thing i was trying to tell was that its not always pagerank or backlinks that get a site indexed, sometimes its the server thats holding a site back from traffic and more money
