LOL, i hate PC's now that i switched over to mac os x leopard. ill never trade in my macbook pro, for a dell ever again.
XP is can stare quite happily at XP, thank you, transparent windows don't automatically make for a better OS. It isn't even any easier on the eye, merely wasteful.
Most people I hear do not complain about the GUI of Vista. They complain about performance lag. In fact the main reasons for many people switching to Vista was the new interface.
Vista is a great OS if your computer isn't old and outdated. In a year or so, you will be using it and comparing it in some other thread. Sure XP looks nice as well, but there is nothing wrong with Vista. I have no problems at all with it, but that is because I can afford to upgrade my hardware to enjoy its capabilities. However, you can stay in the past as long as you want. Enjoy XP
That is basically what I am complaining about: The new interface is all fine and well, but it's a lot of fluff for no real advantage an a huge resource usage. Get your facts straight, I use Vista on my notebook and XP on my laptop. Both are relatively new (less than a year old) and high-end machines and have no need to be upgraded. Never say I don't try things before criticising them; I tried Vista out when I bought my notebook a few months ago, and I made the decision based on that experience that I don't wish to ever voluntarily install it on any other machines.
general...why are you so angry? lol! why do you take it so personally? its just comes down to personal preference, but Vista works FINE regardless to what you think. I run tons of programs that used to hog tons of resources on my other comps at once and fly through anything I need. It never drags, hangs, or gives me any issues. Performance?...Great! My facts are straight...which is why I don't understand your bleeding heart opinion. If your hardware and comp are up to new age standards and you are still having problems with it, then I don't know what to tell you. Maybe try OSX as logylaps suggested. However, Vista is the future of windows for the next bit so either hop on board or sit in the past. It's always up to the user
I don't have a mac. I don't particularly appreciate your assumptions or your accusations of "living in the past". Vista runs fine, because I bought ridiculously overspeced systems, which I did because I new that this would happen. What I'm complaining about is that it wastes resources. If this is the future then I prefer the past, at least for now. I might make the jump to Vienna in 2010, but I suspect Linux or ReactOS is the way to go, if this is the direction Microsoft is taking.
I am not accusing you of anything...you are free to do whatever you like with your PC's. It just seemed that you were not very willing to upgrade your systems for an OS. I do understand that you need an "overpowered" computer to run Vista at its best, but I don't see that as a bad thing. I doubt Vienna will be any different from Vista in that aspect, and I doubt even more that it will come out in 2010. However, only time will tell on that issue. I don't know what ReactOS is (will have to do some searching), but Linux could certainly be the answer to your concerns. I don't think they would ever require you to have systems that are as demanding as Microsoft's.
I do. I see no problem with buying powerful computer for the sake of performance, but I do have a problem with buying one just for the sake of some eye-candy. So do I, but I was trying to be optimistic. I more healthy estimate, in my opinion, would be 2012, considering Microsoft's habit of seriously overrunning deadlines. http://www.reactos.org. I know Linux will never have such ridiculous requirements as Windows because it is made my the community, and the community will make something that they want to run.
Me too I have both Xp and Vista and I like Xp bettewr, but slowly I am starting to like vista better.
Lower build quality? That was sarcasm right? There is a rumor of a new macbook coming soon. Maybe that'l fit you
Do they have steel hinges, magnesium-alloy casing, shock-protected hard-drive, guarenteed next day on-site business support and come in 12", 1.2 kg varieties?
Thats why there is http://www.apple.com/support/products/proplan.html (Good thing I dont have to carry around steel hinges and a magnesium-alloy casing) As for 12", Yes, soon: Source: http://www.macosrumors.com/20061210-1A.html
The only reason I have a mac is because uni has mac's so its kinda hard to type my essay in windows then have to convert it to office 2004 and so
