I am so pissed off with my site promotion

My new site PickABlogger.com is similar to PayPerPost; where advertisers pay bloggers for reviews. I am simply not sure how to go about getting advertisers to post their requirements on the site.

I collected the email ids of all the previous advertisers at PayPerPost and emailed them about the new site (My site has quite a few things that make it better than PPP). But so far, those websites have not even responded, let alone post their project.

In fact, it is a free submission and it costs the advertisers nothing. Still,I have been largely unsuccessful. I've been doing this email thing for more than 6 days now, and grossly pissed off.

Can anybody give a tip on how to proceed further? I do not even have more email ids to mail to...

You can not take email addresses and send those emails. People will not be happy. Try adding site to social bookmark sites and forums to get traffic and members.

    rcj662,

I can try that method for the bloggers who have an incentive to visit my site. But for advertisers who are the ones shelling money in the end, I am not sure what goes into getting them to post their ad requirement.

People have a tendency to not trust anything new. This is understandable. In my own experience I have found that the more often your site name is seen - the more reputable your site becomes in the eyes of the buyer.

You may want to look into investing some time and money into legit promotion; emailing potential clients without their permission is a pretty big no no, makes you look bad and simply offends people.

You should set up a promotional plan of action using legit methods and go from there.

    missdanni,

Could you elaborate on legit promotion? What all do you include in that?

There are steps and there is a process, to successfully promote any site; you have to start at the beginning.

Have you had your site optimized for search engines?
Have you selected your targeted keywords and phrases?
Have you had your site submitted to all major engines?
Does your site have a RSS feed? And if so have you had it added to feed sharing sites?
Have you looked into having your site and services reviewed by others?
Have you looked into SEM ? (search engine marketing)
Have you established ad placement on sites with targeted visitors who would be interested in your services?

These are just a few things that you should be looking into.

Promoting a service is one thing, but you must also realize that its your site you need to establish a presence with first.

These are just my thoughts and suggestions, I'm sure many others would have more suggestions as well.

Maybe I am wrong, but if you see my site specifically, it has two kind of visitors: advertisers (who pay for reviews) and bloggers (who get paid for reviews). While SEO, and reviews are a great way to get the bloggers know about the site and sign up, I am still unconvinced about them being effective for the advertisers as well.

I do agree with you that anything new is not trusted. But then, I just see that every website should have had a day when they started off with their first signup. That looks so hard, and with the trouble of me being looked upon as SPAM, what is that one place I can target all these different advertisers from:confused:

What you need very much is refferal program, you will get much more audience if you do that - just pay 10% refferal earnings or something like that and you will get what you want, because people will do most of your site advertising on their own ;)

Payperpost has a much better and more professional design.

You could also offer free adverts for a period of time to get your site known.

Since you are new, you should offer discounts for advertisers to fill all the campaigns. Otherwise you should make it obvious how your site benefits for everyone else.

Thanks aislandas..I think that makes sense. I think I would seriously look into a referrals program.

Bidzapbiz., I do realize that part. But I think once I get started that would be irrelevant because my site takes Zero commission compared to the 35% that PPP charges..So, advertisers shouldn't be bothered then..

I thought charging zero commission itself will be enough incentive. I still have doubts if this will work

Thanks to everyone who is trying to help me out. Hope I indeed get my site work well.
