Taken from the student noticeboard at my college.

Basically don't buy any petrol next monday, if you live in the UK.

at the end of the day, we all need fuel to get around, so not an awful lot you can do about it as i see it, everyone could stop buying petrol from one supermarket or another for a day or a week, but unless we all start using another mode of transport to get around its not going to make an awful lot of difference.

Currently, a US gallon would cost more than a domain name. (EG: About $8 a gallon)

Formally declared 'no peterol (sic) day' by the students at your college? Don't make me laugh Rob.
Unlike those students some of us need petrol to drive to get to work.

It's not going to make any difference at all. They are not asking people to stop consuming fuel; they are only asking them to not buy any fuel on Monday.

The consumption will be the same. The prices will continue to rise with the price of a barrel of oil.

Whoever came up with this lame idea needs a healthy dose of reality. The net effect is a very predictable zero.

Unfortunately, the price of petrol isnt just based on the price per barrel. In the UK it is based on how much the taxman wants :(

However this protest will not make any difference as most people have pointed out. If no one buys on Monday, then there will be a greater demand on Tuesday.

Brew (who had to pay 1.09p per litre last week :( )

Currently, 101.9 pence for petrol, and 105.9 pence for diesel.

Cheapest 2 months ago was 92.9 pence for petrol, and 95.9 for diesel.

There have been loads of attempts at doing this. It's pointless. If people need to top up then they will, simple as. The petrol providers can charge what they like, but they choose not to.
