What are the advantages of encrypting your CJ links?

What are the disadvantages of encrypting your CJ links?

I never bothered with encrypting my ad links, but recently I have become concerned with PID hijacking (just by reading about the possibility) and I have started to encrypt new ad links. Does this really make a difference? All opinions are welcome for my education! Thanks!

I usually use Tinyurl.com to keep my CJ link short, even though its was encrypted by CJ.

It's dumb to use a free service to keep your links short - what happens if they shut down?

I wouldn't bother with encrypted CJ links - there aren't any programs out there that replace PIDs to make money, and if there were, they'd be violating CJ's PSA. Also, encrypted links don't let you easily figure out the AID or PID that you used for a link (which makes link management a pain).

That was my concern about this, too. Looking at a link in code and wondering what that is for..., etc.

Of course, bold and/or temporary thieves of PIDs aren't concerned with what CJ might think or do, but it is a barrier. I feel a little better about ignoring the encryption option.

Anyone think encryption is really useful?
