Ok lets take it to my question point. I was not actually talking about chargebacked payments when you pay paypal from your credit card, but about straight paypal funds, personal to personal accounts. Imagine I am a cheater with personal account and I go at DP forum and buy lets say an ebook for 10$. Or a backlink on some site. I get the ebook or a backlink or whatever I purchased and then contact paypal to refund me the money. Will they do that? How easy? I am afraid of such cases like the one described
You just need to know how to fight them. The dispute comes up if your goods are not tangible say they are not tangible and therefor are not covered by seller protection. It also helps to sell through an actual web site opposed to a forum. That way you can say they went to this site bought something clearly they bought x which has no seller protection.
Paypal wants me to pay 250 before I can get my account back. Someone paid me with a stolen credit credit and now I have to pay paypal back before I can use my account again! I traced the guy who did it and I all I could get is his yahoo id and then I tricked him into visiting my website and then I tracked his ip to Vietnam. Now I am out a paypal account and I owe 250 bucks because of some pathetic scammer in Nam!!! I am just gonna open up a new bank account and another paypal account.
Ahh yes now violate paypals terms and be no better than the guy who scammed you. All you're going to do is have your account shutdown and those funds taken if you ever get any on it. I'm betting you receive the $250 then withdrew it from your account. First mistake you can make right there I would let funds sit for a bit to pass any fraud checks. So what happened was Paypal had the funds taken from them by the credit card company. So they now what the funds you were paid back. Makes sense to me it's exactly what happens if you have your own credit card gateway or use any of the other popular payment processors. Second do fraud checks on the people buying things. Have them visit a web site to pay. That way you can track back their IP so you look they say they are from the united states but the IP says vietnam well it's pretty obvious what's going to happen. I've been using Paypal for over 4 years now without issue. I've had very few problems. All orders must pass a fraud check which gets 99.9999% of the people. So over the course of my use with Paypal I've had only one charge back and this was 8 months after the guy paid and used the services! But the credit card company allowed it. Other than the odd dispute here and there and won every single one of them.
ya get this, it was about 9 months later that they took the money out of my account! How long do you suggest I wait? lol of course I took it out right away not knowing any better but I should have never accepted credit cards either.
How would that solve scammers? It wouldn't you would just be having two different accounts. You would be paying for two different creditcards. Paypal makes it very easy for people to open a dispute.. There only has to be a tiny small thing wrong with your product and they open a dispute, our they just open a dispute to get there money back. The buyer and seller dispute isnt fair the buyer most of the time wins even if he provides more then enough prove. But il never stop using paypal even with all the negative sides it has alot of positive ones. Just becarefull who you deal with
I made other points of doing fraud checks because clearly this guy was fraudulent from the start. So I advise you return the money to Paypal and resume using your account opposed to opening a new one. They'll find out it's yours and shut it down and take the funds to cover the amount you owe them thanks to the fraudulent payment you took on another account.
PayPal is all I use, I have never had a problem, but as said above, check out the person's account first.
How does the chargeback thing work ? Can someone do it at any time ? I'm afraid some people may use the chargeback function on me :S Is there a certain period of time that person can use it for, or can it be used at any time?
Open accounts with different user name and each with a different credit card no. Paypal will only scan the credit card number, if I am not mistaken.
Chargebacks are what the credit card company's do and I have absolutely no idea how far they'll go back and still do them. I've had people do it after 8 months via their credit card company and I was left without the funds in the Paypal account. I've also had the same issues with credit card gateways and users doing chargebacks 6+ months later. Not a whole lot can be done about them unfortunately the credit card company of the person is always going to rule in their favor (it's their customer after all)
ya I know what you mean but that really sucks and it was a hard lesson to learn that paypal does nothing to catch the crooks and the innocent people like me have to pay the price! So in a way PAYPAL is not for everyone! Believe me, you never know when someone is scamming you till it's totally too late and anyone who preaches paypal being a good thing is wrong. CHARGEBACKS SUCK!
