Will this hurt my customers SEO?

I am making a script for my scripts store that uses javascript to hide the media (games, videos, etc) and display an ad for a few seconds then hides that and shows the media. Will the hidden ad hurt their SE rankings? The ad code and the div that hides it is generated by javascript and isn't visible in the page source. Can Google and others still see it?

    Thanks

None of the search engines can analyze javascript really well............. yet ;)

So you should be fine taking this approach, although you can never be truly safe from the old hand editting if you are doing shady things

I will not hurt your client. The approach you are using can not objectionable. It can be part of application to wait few sec before showing media. Don't bother and go ahead implement it.

I agree, including a piece of Javascript like that will be no problems so long as you are not trying to pull any sort of cloaking stunt.

Adsense, Analytics etc all use this method to imbed stuff in your pages.

As what the other members have mentioned, Google cannot see JS content.. You can use spider viewer to see what the search engine bots will see in your site.

The spider viewer is key in this- I use to go through these questions all the time, but that tool really can help clear issues like this with SEO up.
