Live stats posted on the left of all pages at erectadirectory. At the current moment ...

    768 links approved
    2,067 links rejected
    27% approval rate

So you are supposed to cut 1 out of 4, I cut 3 out of 4. Ooh well, that's what I get for running a free directory. That's a lot of time spent declining, and perhaps a lot of disappointed potential customers. Ooh well it's all for the users ... not the submitters :]

I've drawn my line in the sand, where is yours?

People can think whatever they want. They are good for link building and nothing else. Very few people use directories to find sites to visit. Directories are overall unreliable as anyone can submit. Even if people paid a lot of money to 'weed' out spam, there would still be the shady porn and casino industry that has money to blow :p

Your directory is not any different. Good for you for rejecting one site.....

Our basic rules will be if the business can be advertised in the public domain, ie phone book, tv, radio or newspaper it then gets past check one, check 2 will involve all normal criteria as most use.

    Thanks guys.

I was just mentioning that it is quite difficult to reject a paid submission for the first time, when you're starting off. Luckily it was only a $2 submission, and I felt justified when about 3 hours later somebody knocked their bid up to $4 :)

Right. So if the guy paid $2000 for the same site, rather than $2 would you reject it then?;)

    Oooh you evil thing!

Well, considering I'm just starting out, I'm sure if I refund all 6 of my listings and start again, nobody would complain, would they? ;)

But on that day I recieve a $2000, I will celebrate by riding my flying pig ;)

$200 probably. Whilst a nice sum of money it's not huge, so I would give it back :)

nice to see you are not motivated by money. I $2000 bid on my directory wouldn't be a miracle as its likely to happen one day with the current high bids. It would be hard but i may have to reject it.

Don't see why people penalise casino sites. After all, it's merely religious money and power in the U.S., in my case another country, wildly dictacting to search engines and through the Senate what's right and wrong and in my opinion they're wrong.

People can think for themselves on such matters. In the U.K. gambling firms can now advertise on television at night and during the day on sporting events - kids will of course watch it so I'm not going to penalise sites on the internet when it's in the mainstream.

Agree with above post, site submission should be based on the quality of a site and not its topic, there should only be restrictions on illegal or sick sites imho

For example 6 out of 10 adults in the UK gamble $100 every month....

Of course sex / dating is mainstream also

So why pretend to be family friendly, teenagers also take part in these activities if we like it or not

Google penalizes some directories for whatever reason they deem fit..So if i was in the dir business i would accept such sites if they are quality and focus on direct traffic rather than search engine traffic

One of your sig links goes here ----->>> /http://www.v1le.com/ and another goes here ----->>> /http://www.youcangetme.info/

I can understand why you would take that position...

Turning down money that you could use to promote your directory - or do fun things with - is always hard!
I have been turning down/re-paying several customers becourse their sites content doesnt match my citeria.
This doesnt mean that i turn down EVERYTHING that is gambling related. ( eventhough i turn down 90%)
