Dear designing fellas, As you can see in the past few days, Prices for design contests in this forum is ridicilous lately, Prices like 10-30$ for a logo contest, Other forums offer like twice more then that for a None-Contest logo. The forum prices has gone real bad, Spacily in the last 2 weeks, We should either stop designing for cheaper then 30$ per Logo contest, Less then 50$ per header contest and less then 200$ per Full layout contest, People forgets that 99% of the people who works hard in contests goes out with nothing Or we should not make designs at All in the next week, Untill people will start appreciate the Digital Designing artwork, It's not just our time that we sell it's also our skill and creative'ness. This post might break a few forum rules, But I hope that mods will let it stay here for a while, So we can make this community a more rewarding community. Please let me hear your thoughts about it.
In some points, i agree, but if someone offers something low, they will not get all the effort from all designers anyway, so i think its ok. People wouldn't design a logo if they didn't think it was worth it. My advice: If you think a contest is unfairly priced, just don't participate.

The fact is if someone wants top quality designs done, they'll pay for it, but most on here just want a quick thing done, and the top quality designers won't even bother looking in those threads.
I fully agree with Wasted, You guys don't get what he is trying to say, He is saying that if no one will design the prices will go higher, And anyhow from what I've seen almost all designers in this forum designs in all contests, So I don't think it's really about The amount that they pay, 90% of the designers here participate in all contests.
What does makes you think that quality designers doesnt even look here? What is this forum about that? The name design shoul be ''s***ky desings''! SHouldnt it? I agree that n00bs come here but have to start somewhere! And I think ur making post to get good quality designs... Yea we could also make them in 2 mins... But it usually takes 30 mins!
Perhaps what could work would be to have separate designs forums, one for Cheap Designs and one for Premium, expensive ones.
I get what he's saying, i just dont agree with it. If you think a contest is too cheap, dont enter it, simple as.
The bottom line is, you get what you pay for. If you flip through the contests, you'll find that those that offer $50+ for logos will get premium quality entries, those that offer $10 will get half-a**ed submissions. If you sincerely do not believe the contest is worth it, just don't enter. There's other people who would be glad to pick up the prize instead.
Lately there has also been a lot of entries where a bunch of new members just keep googling images and adding some text and placing it in as an entry. Which is a waste of everybodys time and in my opinion causes this forum to lose creditability. In all honesty, I know my designs are not the best, and I don't enter every contest because I know that it is not worth my time to enter a contest where I am trying to make the most money that I can for a design. I know that contests are all thrown out there where you never know who the winner will be, but I try to see it as I am not going to waste multiple hours on a contest where chances of winning are divided amongst many and the prize is only $10.
You are 90% right but the 10% you are not because when there is a low price like $10 that is quick money for a someone. Not too many people would enter the contest. Also, I want to say, what is with people just getting an image that is just copy and paste and then they had just the text given. Like the glassy icons or buttons I always see being copied from other freebies etc.
I have to agree with NsaneNoob, im new here but i make all my entries from scratch, and i find it very anoying when people simply use googled images, or in one case somebody actually seemed to cut an image straight out of my entry :S
I've held seven contests here: $20 header $25 header $10 logo $5 creativity $30 logo $5 favicon $100 logo And the difference in results is amazing... The $100 contest drew tons of very great submissions, whereas the other contests brought in a fair amount of decent quality work... I think if you want a quality logo here, you still have to offer more for it... I also think the market drives prices... People know that a lot of these newer designers will work for $10 or $20, so if they just need a "decent" logo, they'll offer less... I don't believe that having a large number of designers will raise prices, I think it will just give more work to those that keep on charging less...
