Directories that have recovered from Google Bannings

For those who are new to the game, sites have been banned by Google for many many years. It was much worst in the past. Some directories were dropped to PR0 and completely removed from Google's index. I have records from at least 2005. If I remember right, the issue was probably gaining too many links too fast. The good news is that many of them were able to appease G and get re-indexed.

Here are some directories that have recovered from Google Bannings. There were also many high profile sites that were de-indexed and then forgiven a bit later that aren't listed on the list. If you know of more please post them here.

I guess what I am trying to say is that many people are acting like the "sky is falling" when really Google is just doing what it has for a long time. Directory owners should keep at it, always working towards the long-run rather than short-term gain.

Wow:eek: Reading that thread from August 2005 was like reading a thread from Sept-Nov 2007. Sitesift came back strong.

Like I said. Google hasn't really changed, especially if you ignore the little green toolbar.

    .
I noticed many phpLD directories lost at least 2 points on the PR scale and most lost PR on their inner pages to PR0.

I run 4 qlWebDS directories and they all have gained PR on the Home Page and inner pages, like withing categories and sub categories. Was Google just after phpLD?

    That's stupid.
    Let's clear it definetely. :D
Come back of mentioned directories shows it's clearly.
It's not about pagerank, script or whatever - it's all about money.

If those sites recovered, it was because they stopped trying to scam Google and others and started paying attention to Google's guidelines.

Show me any directories that didn't correct their previous mistakes and have shown a recovery.

Did anyone say that these directories had not corrected their previous mistakes? You don't half chat some shit Minstrel.

Did *I* say the ones that had recovered didn't correct their mistakes? I thought I said the opposite.

The point is in response to the implication that these are just the normal run-of-the-mill Google ups and downs. That's simply not true. The directories that were recently penalized, first manually and then via algorithm changes, were dinged because of certain unapproved practices they were using, and those that have not corrected those practices are not going to recover,

You're blind or... tell it yourself.
Mentioned directories as all other passes pagerank value.
And all before you were talking was about pagerank chase.

    If not pagerank than what?

One difference we can see is not charging for links.
Apart of it mentioned directories are so poor in both: layour and content.
Look at WebDevSites or Hot vs Not
only links, links, links... no content, no interesting features, no real review.
Just link farms - completely useless for visitor.

It's all about money I say. (as always)

I don't understand most of your post. By definition, directories are composed of links. That's why they exist. That's not what was penalized.

What was primarily penalized were two practices: (1) buying and selling links for their PR value; and (2) heavy interlinking between directories.

I understand what I'm saying just fine. I'm having a devil of a time understanding what the hell you are saying, though.

    What's your point?
