Does that mean you got 62,542 VISITORS from a single press release? Or am i reading this wrong?

Well, I know we've been chatting about doing an improved press release, so perhaps he's waiting until he releases the second one, or he's waiting until he has time to verify his own stats, as PRweb's stats mean pretty much nothing of value.

You're reading it wrong, but that's not your fault. PRweb's stats are highly misleading. :) What you're seeing here is basically this:

Headline impressions (the vast majority of the final total, and not that useful of a stat in general).

"Reads" (including .pdf downloads, the printer-friendly version, etc.) - However, this is the most misleading part as it is really about "access" (based on click-throughs) and not actual "reads." Most people accessing a press release don't read them all the way through (or even past the headline, summary, and first paragraph in many cases).

And those numbers are all based on the actual press release... not visitors the release sent to the publisher's site.

Nice site, is prweb really the best one? - I heard there are free options that are better in that they put forth the releases they deem as decent / or they offer to write it for a fee.. and thats how they'll make their money...

I'm about to go that route with press releases myself. Thanks for sharing that with us.

I run a PR firm, and I'd say they're usually not the "best" option by a long shot. They're great for certain niches, but that doesn't mean most.

If you're interested in free distribution, I wrote an article about it on my PR blog a while back that may be of interest: Effective Free Press Release Distribution in 5 Easy Steps

I also hope the best for Skribblez, and hope he reports here on results.

And jhmattern's site has a lot of good information and advice for those of us who send out occasional press releases, but should send our more.

There's no such thing as a "best" distribution option in a general sense, and anyone who tells you differently doesn't know very much about distribution. It's a highly personal topic, dependent on your niche, your news, and the target audience you're trying to reach.
