you make a torrent file, thats what you upload, that file is sent to a tracker, (the site) and the tracker is updated every few hours or so. when you want to download the movie, you download the tracker file, that tells your pc where to connect for the movie, you then download the movie direct from other peoples pc's.

the invite works well, and it is not to keep the site on the low, as you think, if that was the case, the site wouldnt be that popular, as it is to public.

the invite system is to weed out the people that take and not give back. i.e. you keep all the best members that share, and give new members a chance to join the community, if they dont share, they get dumped.

this way it keeps the site popular with people that share and people that provide great content.

stealing my hard earned cash is wrong. when sony charge a fair price for a cd/dvd i'll pay for it.
until then, i'll take what i want.

if i am the 1st to start to download from someone, i start to upload the parts of the file i have already, to others, and the 1st guy only has to send the parts they need. so once a swarm starts, they can share all the parts they have between themselves as long as the uploader has sent the full file content to the swarm, no-one needs to have the full movie to send what bits they have, and get what bits they are missing.

That helped me alot too:) Thanks, I must have missed out on the Torrent chapter of my "Internet for dummies" book.. LOL (I don't really have one.. lmao)

Sounds pretty cool, though I personally would have to study up on the process a bit more to be sure it is safe and my CPU won't get hijacked.

I'll just stick to watching the movies on my PC and not having to download anything.. I'm not much of a burner anyway. (unless it's a rental..hehe)

I'm too lazy to download them.. I usually just watch them online. On sites like onlinecinema.org, videohybrid.com etc :D
Although I'm having trouble finding new movies after they've closed tv-links.co.uk, which is basically a good thing, helps get more things done while I'm not watching movies

oh shit, so it is the record company that force you to steal...

BMW selling car for 60k, that's not a fair price, should i steal a car now?

let me tell you the real reason why you dl movie/music, it is because you know you are anonymous..that why people think it is ok to flame, scam others online because they can't get you

Don't get it if you can't afford it..

Whatever these companies are stealing our hard earned money! There is no and I mean no valid reason a cd should be the price it is. Movies are extremely over priced!

Hollywood can burn in hell and go bankrupt for all I care!

I will never rent a movie or buy a cd again in my life.

and now they are going on strike!! Screw them they make so much money yet people like us work Full Time year around and barely make 45,000 a year.

They are stealing prices so I will steel or steal from them!

see this other post? see i aint the only one that thinks Sony over charge for the crap they sell.
and if you really wanna know why i like to download music, because i dont have to pay for the bonus track, or the other crap they have on a cd, 16 songs and i might like 2-3 of them, why make me pay over the top prices for them?
i buy blank cd's for 2p a go. so where does the other $29,96 come from for a cd?

Wow.. You guys wanna know something that I hardly share .. I've never in my life bought a music CD.. LOL I had not clue they cost so much.. I used to just listen to the Radio or any CDs that friends gave me or left in my car. Now I basically listen to what I can find online and still, what's on the radio.. :)

Now DVD's that's another thing. Until recently (when I discoverd the free stuff online) I bought DVD's all the time. I have HUGE SciFi and Fantasy collection with the occasional horror, romance and drama.. :)

    lets see ok
cd usa at walmart As I Am Alicia Keys = $12.88
cd uk at walmart As I Am Alicia Keys = $18,00

dvd usa at walmart die hard 4 = $15.87
dvd uk at walmart die hard 4 = $26.00

same cd and dvd from the same store, in the usa and uk. and you are telling me that a multi million dollar movie on dvd costs just $3 more than 4 tramps sat in a studio banging a drum, keyboard and plucking at strings, with no expense but 4 big macs an oz of hash and their bus fair home.

    get a real life.

when Sony stop fixing prices and charge the uk people the same price as the usa people for the same cd from the same store, then i'll think about buying the cd.

but even the usa people are being ripped off here. because there is no way on earth that 4 crackhead tramps that cant sing, are worth $12.88 for a cd when a multi million dollar movie on dvd only costs $15.87

I do agree that they need to be more along the same price (and a WHOLE lot cheaper) but I wonder if the difference in price has anything to do with Import and Export Taxes? If so that's more of a gov't issue with that.

I do know that my ex b/f was a huge fan of Japanese culture, language, music and movies and the price they were (here in the US) was EXPENSIVE and I usually don't complain too much but I asked him to stop buying them.. LOL

There are alot of things that shouldn't cost what they cost.. And people say, well you don't steal cars because they are overpriced. Nor do I steal designer clothes, artwork, perfume, jewelry, but I do think that stuff is all overpriced. Also I think that if it were possible to download a free car, than I just might be tempted to do so..

That really sucks, as I liked Demonoid a lot...

Anyways to all who are arguing over stealing, live with it. Those companies steal from us everyday.
I'm not gonna pay for an entire CD for two songs, I'm gonna download what I want and then burn it to a CD.
As for movies, I buy those as I can't waste time downloading... I also support Movie Theaters by going to my local cheap $1 movies.

Yeah torrents are really not the way to go if you must download stuff. Newsgroups are very fast and a heck of a lot harder to trace than torrents. Of course they've said they're going to go after news groups next but I'm skeptical about how successful that will be.

Sweden's lawmakers are going to close that loophole in the near future one could hope.

All they are doing is stealing and facilitating stealing, they have no moral business model at all. They need to be shut down.
