Ok, so after many many many layout updates, I think I have made a little progress. Obviously it is not professionally designed, but with a budget of $0, as of now I am going to have to deal with a layout that I can make myself. How do you like the index page? Suggestions?

Also, the category pages are laid out differently (they have a left menu). Do you think I should leave them as is, or take away the left menu to keep the continuity of the index page throughout the entire site?

The structure is kind of blocky but it looks okay. You might want to move the text on the right to the left a bit.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, everything was taken into consideration. Any comments on the link colors? Especially the visited links. I usually keep unvisited and visited links the same color, but this site I originally felt I should change it up. What do you all suggest?

 

its nice, nice colours, nice design (basic though) Overall I would love to use this website in the future (being such a cheap ass I am) Good luck with it in the future.

 

Next question: about the top image header. Should I just get a new header with the same exact dimensions or should I go with a small logo on the left and something else (or nothing) on the right?

Good layout. You might want to put your mission to a separate page or before feature article. I dont like the ads placement but that might be just me.
