I Have Been Accused Of Copying Someone Else's Article

Discussion in 'Copywriting' started by kentuckyslone, Nov 8, 2007.

I have been accused of copying someone's article and posting it on my site. The fact is that I never even saw that person's article (the accuser). I even ran copyscape and it showed no problems

I would appreciate it if anyone could take a look at both articles and say whether or not mine was copied from their site. I know for myself that it was not, but I would like for others to know it as well.

    Here article:

First, you are being accused by Samantha Pia? Isn't she banned like every other month on DP? I wouldn't worry about it.

Second, your article actually presents the information much cleaner and in a manner that is more understandable.

If one of the articles was indeed copied off the other, I would say Samantha would seem to be the guilty party.

Ignore her cause she's willing to stand up for herself and her beliefs, which gets her banned? Funny.

Additionally, Sam claimed he edited his 3 times since she complained. ;) So really, this thread is pointless and will just cause trouble. No one can prove a thing.

Just looking at the articles, however, I would say Sam's is the duplicate copy.

This is another way of saying her copy is less professional, not an actual guess at who copied who. (if one even did copy the other)

It looks like both of you wrote about the same article/sources and used the same public pics. The writing style is different, and doesn't show you copied the writing. The most someone could say is you copied her "idea" (true or not) of writing on that topic, which of course isn't copyrightable.

Samantha's article was published about a year ago - so she did not copy ffrom me at all

I only edited it to add links to news stories at the end of the article.

I also edited it to add a link to her article and then later to remove that link because of her rudeness.

That was the only editing that was done to it

I never said she did copy from you, I know she didn't, her article is over a year old, yours is new.

I did not mean to imply that you did but someone else made a comment above that she may have. In all fairness I just stated that she did not.

I don't see plagiarism here, only similar stories and the same pictures. You can likely find the same info on tons of other sites if you search hard enough. I did wonder about the change in font on your story??? Made me think you might have copied and pasted...

Just sounds like you both used similar sources to write your stories to me.

If I would have copied and pasted the text would have been the same, but it isnt. Also, I didnt even look at Samantha's article until after I had made the post.

I am not sure if I am missing something here but these articles are not even close. Sam's is poorly written with many spelling errors.

Hey I would be interested to know what program you used to do that with. That looks like it would be a very useful tool

Sam gave me two red reps, cussed at me in another thread, and insulted and attacked me in repeated PMs saying that I had copied her article. I tried to explain that I hadnt even looked at her article, but she refused to accept it. She even gave red reps to others who posted in that same thread!

This seems to me like Channel 8 sueing Channel 3 for covering the same murder on the news. You both wrote about the same thing and both are written in different ways. this is retarded
