I give green when it is worthy of course, if a guy helped my with a response or something thats the least I can do. But I'm a bit frustrated for not receiving green at all. I have a thread at freebies and I've given so many torrent invites for the hardest torrent trackers to get in, I saw those invites offered for more than 10$ and haven't received a single green rep, not that I do that for reputation, but still its a sing of appreciation. For one moment I thought only higher beings get green rep++ but I guess only torrent-users are that way.. or maybe I've given all the invites to leechers only..
I hear ya man.. LOL I've had a few threads in the domain names section giving away free lists of available LLLLL.com's (some that could be easily flipped for a nice profit) and have only gotton two little bitty green reps and a whole bunch of grey.. LOL Too bad that most of the people who seem to rep are people trying to gain rep and thus, they have no rep to spread.. LOL
Green reps go out daily. Red reps virtually never (maybe one in 3 years). I give green when a post is helpful or offers something of genuine value. Also green is given when the poster clearly took some of his/her time and showed a willingness to try to help someone else. That kind of other-centeredness always deserves green.
I give green when someone helps me, and i give red when someone is doing something against the rules. Sadly this ratio is about 10 red for 1 green. :/ (not saying people dont help, im saying that theres alot of people who dont read rules)
LOL, so that means that you give yourself 10 negative rep points a day also, that sucks. I kinda wish you didn't get a negative for giving a negative. Or I wish that the obverse were true. You get one point of positive for giving out positive would be nice. Or even half a point for every positive you give out. It should go both ways IMO but probably wont change and it's really not that big a deal anyway. I'm surprised that a quarter of the people voteing say they forget about the rep system, I guess it's not all the important to everyone or they just havn't realized that is exists yet. I tend to get this message often:
