Paypal ebook delivery?

Discussion in 'PayPal' started by pondlife, Nov 6, 2007.

    Hi All,

I'm almost ready to sell my ebook and I don't have a problem with coding the paypal integration but I'm unsure how to actually deliver the ebook...

I've heard that some people are just putting a download link on their 'Thank you' page but this sounds a little too easy to breach.

Are there any simple ways to achieve delivery of ebooks?

    Many thanks,

    p.

Really Using download link in paypal results in breach of the link which is easy to trace and you will result in loss.

Thanks - I may PM you for the price as I like the idea of using a scripted method ...not really interested in the other ebooks tho I'm afraid...

I must look up what IPN is as I've seen it written but don't know what it means...

If people are going to steal your ebook or pass it around, they will.

Rather than waste time on it, just encrypt the paypal button when you create it (option is in paypal), so that anyone viewing your source code can't see the "thank you" page. Then put the download link on the thank you page, and set it so that it wont be indexed in search engines.

    I agree with Vic,
I use PayPal for some of my ebooks and have seen very little unauthorized access to my thank-you pages, but it has happened on occassion.

    What do you think of Plimus.com, Payloadz.com, Shareit.com, Regsoft.com, Regnow.com, SWReg.org or ccnow.com ?

Plimus are extremely poor. It doesnt look good at all to your customers, as they have never heard of them. Paypal is instantly trusted. Also, for european customers Plimus will add on VAT (tax) at 17.5% to your sales price, so you need to either lower your price to compensate for this, or make it harder to convert.

    Hey Paulxy,

This looks pretty good and it's only $55 which I think is reasonable. I'm gonna spend some time reading through their bumf...

    Cheers, p.

I have never had a problem selling digital products using the encrypted method.
That would be your best, fastest and cheapest option if you are only selling your one ebook.

Not heard of that one - I will check it out although I think I'm going to go the PHP script route.

    Thanks :)

I've wondered the same thing about paypal and doing a download. I have an ebook I've written, but I'm stuck at taking the next step. Thanks for the suggestions and I'll be looking into them.
