I think I understand the blog question. You're saying that there's a site that has both a directory and a blog.

Assuming the blog is about directories...

Directories (however you have them sorted) > site homepage.html
    Directories > Blogs > sitehomepage/blog.html

Sorry for the delay on this but now have a working example.

First re mikey's symbolic catagory, i have renamed it ( just for my better understanding ) to a category Divert

I have used this twice now in the following formats

    the > = diverted

    Dir - auto - > forums ( this diverts to ) Dir - forums - auto
    Dir - fishing - >forums ( this diverts to ) Dir - forums - fishing

Now to the second part where i am diverting Titles as above Q:

This i will be doing for a site with more than one theme in speaking. So for the test site of Ocean Storm Fishing it was set up in the main theme as

Dir - fishing - supplies & tackle - Ocean Storm Fishing

but then because this site also has a forum attached i have redirected it at title level, giving also

Dir - Fishing - forums - > Ocean storm fishing

In addition because this site runs charters and in essence an online shope i will b also setting up title Diverts to

Dir - fishing - charters - > Ocean storm fishing
Dir -online shopping - fishing tackle - > Ocean storm fishing.

all in all it will look like this powering up the exposure to 4X

Dir - fishing - supplies & tackle - Ocean Storm Fishing
    + Diverts
Dir - Fishing - forums - > Ocean storm fishing
Dir - fishing - charters - > Ocean storm fishing
Dir -online shopping - fishing tackle - > Ocean storm

using the diverts in a way is similar to a person using multiple catagories, but here we use one main category then divert all sub / related catagories to the main one, this will include blogs, articles and any aspect of a site.

Anyway just a thanks again to mikey / Bernard / others for their help, this is one party trick that has really helped me on the forums.

You can check the sig to see it working ( still to connect online shopping and charter )

I make my own category structure for unique content. I have a directory in which I added 6,000 categories manually with Unique Meta tags for each of them..Tiring work but now I am reaping the SE benefits :D

This is probably one of the most important threads for any directory owner. I've just been browsing through a few directories in the solicitations section, and it appears that many suffer from not thinking about their category structure before launching.

A good category structure is the solid foundation upon which to build your directory.

You might be thinking? Oh well I can change things around further down the line. But it won't be that easy when you have hundreds/thousands of sites to move to scores of new categories.

Changing later also will make for page not founds, loss of any PR, loss of SERPs and any backlinks to any categories you rename or change.

Taking the time up front will pay off in the long run and help keep you sane. :D
