Forum Sig - Can it Really Increase Your Traffic?

Can putting links to your site in forum sigs really increase traffic?

I am part of about 10 forums which are related to the content on my blog. I do not spam, I am actually an active member of these forums and have been for a while.

I am going to put a link to my new blog in the forum sig but I was wondering if it will increase my traffic?

    Does anyone else do this?

If so can you tell us if it sent a lot of traffic or just a few extra?

Yes, it can help increase traffic if you post quality articles and such on forums. If a user likes your posts, then they'll visit your sites.

Eh, you'll get some traffic, but not like it'll blow your socks off. Every little bit helps though.

It all really depends on the amount you post per day, the popularity of the thread you're posting in, the appeal of your sig link and ofcourse the quality of your post. Generally I find that every post I make will result in 2 visitors.

If you're a good contributor to the forum and actually have something worthwhile to say people will visit your sites simply because you're not an idiot.

Just use a tracker to track the result of your signature. It's the best way to find out.

Of course it will, increase your traffic. But, by how much? A few here and there? And will they come back?

I've clicked on plenty of posters' links. I then logged back out again.

And isn't your goal to work fewer hours and make MUCH more than a minimum-paid worker?

How long do you spend on boards again, and how much do you make from them???

Sorry, but that is one of the worst ways to get traffic.

Increase traffic yes, but they probably will not monetize well unless your website is directly related to the forum.

Just like this forum unless you are trying to monetize about building websites you won't see too many conversions just curious lookers.

Take it like this - you never have to spend any time on building/managing your signature. So any traffic, even 1 visitor daily, is what you are getting, take it as bonus. As far as signature links are concerned, I don't think they carry that much value so don't get excited too much if yahoo shows hundreds of pages of DP as backlinks.

signatures are valuable, but compared to what search engines can send, direct traffic from signatures is a trickle. 10-20 visitors a day is not really going to make much money for you.

IMO, SEO should always be the primary stratergy for anybody looking for extra traffic.

Sig files don't hurt if you're going to posting on the forum anyway, and the backlinks will improve your PR.

I agree with AdJumpCM in that people will check out your sites if you are a contributing member of a community. I've never clicked into the sig of a person that gave a pointless one-liner that had little or nothing of value to the thread, or forum itself. Though, I have clicked into relevant sig links from what seemed like an informative post.

I started a thread on what I think makes for the best use of a sig link: Forum Link Building tips (it's not just your signiture!)

if you've got a good comment for your sig and if those forums where you are active member have great traffic everyday, than they can surely increase your traffic.

Forum Marketing is an effective marketing strategy if used correctly.
I've just wrote a forum marketing post on my blog (ProfitBaron.com) and how you can use it effectively via signatures etc. :)

For me it is around +3to15 visitors who come to my blog if I post here atleast one post, in another forum, where I write it is the same, plus it surely does increase your blogs pr after pr update, I got PR 3 and PR 2 to my blogs only for putting them in my sig, it isn't much, but it surely helps ;)
