How much disk space do you think Shawn use to keep this forum threads/posts up?
I known the answer but i will let you guess :)

You known guys i run a project ( www.realranker.com , still in beta) to crawl all the web in order to analyze how search engines works, and why certain websites have certain ranks in SERPs ,etc.

So any estimations ?! How much time do you think somebody need to downland the whole digitalpoint forum (only threads, no itrades, etc, no images) ?!

I'd say it'd be creeping into the low TBs... probably less than 50TB all up. That's just a wild guess though. :)

Ha ha :) So there can't be a few Terra bytes how some people say :)
I bet Shawn use redundant servers, and also keep back ups.

But how i said, the disk space it's in GB not in Terra bytes :)

    HINT: it's under 100 GB !!!

Here's some stats to help you try to guess. On my video game forums, I got

    Threads: 15,265, Posts: 494,767, Members: 33,640

and the newest back-up is 252 megs, with out images.

    Here's DPs stats....

    Threads: 526,707, Posts: 4,978,708, Members: 110,959
    7.4 million PMs

with 10 times the posts, guessing. 2.5 gigs...with a few few Terra bytes not being used...yet!!! Used space guess doesn't even count all the avatars, *hot* attachments, and pictures on the server! Oh, and not to mention the dead gallery.

Well to downland all the digitalpoint threads it will require you around 50GB.This is the HTML layout + text, without images.

By the way ... if you want to save into a file all backlinks + the url of the threa from were you grab them... you will have an 1 GB big text file!
(there lot's of links because everyone have 4 links in their signatures, also a blog line, and also copy&paste lot's of urls here)

    Uhhh

forgot to mention something, did you knew that 1 of every 40 websites that are appearing on digitalpoint forum , are also appearing in buy / sell links area?!

And not in people signature... neither on their blog line near avatar .... but in their posts about buying/selling links :) lol
