    I'm in a far different position. I actually disagree with my (current) chosen candidate on a whole host of issues.

    I'm not claiming that my guy is the next Messiah -- that's one of the things that sets the true Paulinas apart from almost everyone else in this race.

    We're voting for a temporary leader -- they're waging holy war.

    "Paul's candidacy is similar in many ways to Wendell Wilkie in 1940. An outsider that switched parties, bucking the othodoxy of the GOP, with a boisterous support base of common Joes, facing a splintered group of establishment candidates, in an election dominated by war fears.

    Wilkie went to the Philadelpha convention with few committed delegates, and only polled 3rd place on the first ballot. But he kept peeling away delegates on each subsequent ballot and won the nomination on the sixth one.

    Yes, Paul is a long shot... but mavericks can, and have, won the nomination."

    ~~~
    Top tier!!!
    As of todays close Ron Paul has moved into third place (top-tier!!!) at intrade.com (Event futures market)
    • Instead of bogus (land-line) phone polls which tend to capture an ever-shrinking 'base' of the real America...
    • ...intrade.com shows the opinion of people who are risking real money on future events.
    Current standings (as of today)
    Top-tier=
    Rudy G
    Mitt R
    Dr. Ron Paul
    [IMG]
    Lower-tier=
    'Sleepy Fred' T. (who places a strong second in the bogus mainstream nation-wide polls) :p
    John Mc. & Huckabee
    :D
    At the moment, my vote is going towards Rudy.
    But... the election is a long way off and I am especially sensitive to Rudy's choice of running mates.
    Yeah, and there never was a "President Wilkie." :rolleyes:
    Oh, so you really do support hard-core fascism? :eek:
    Ron Paul has the best chance of beating Hellery. Why?
    • Most Americans are opposed to endless, illegal mass-murder.
    Edit:
    NY Times Quotes Fascist Rudy G
    * You decide if Fascist Rudy G speaks about the type of freedom you would want to live under:
    "What we don't see is that freedom is not a concept in which people can do anything they want, be anything they can be. Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do." -Fascist Mayor Rudy G.
    Rudy G has had too many affairs, cross dressings, and negative side effects (criminal connections, etc) along with former Mayor Koch's criticism AFTER supporting him in 96, for me to even go near him. I'd rather Koch run for president.
    Ed's certainly a character, but he's not running.
    He was also, based upon results, a much worse Mayor than Rudy.
    I really do hope they bought some load balancing for tomorrow. I've been pretty impressed with RP's designers for his website, but it really is time to spend a bit of money to temporarily spread some traffic around so the damned website doesn't die so much.
    I've never notice downtime with http://www.ronpaul2008.com/, I must have missed it.
    ~~~
    The site did great yesterday:
    • Dr. Ron Paul raised over $4.2 Million in one single day!!

    There have been a few times, such as right after Fox Debates, and all day yesterday. Typically, the website is great, but when a big event happens, it gets swamped.

    The site was up all day yesterday. :)
    ...or at least the dozens of times I watched the money pouring in at over $3,100 per minute. :)

    ~~

    Maybe, I've somehow missed the downtime?

    Earlier today, the fund-raising was like the #1/#2 on MSNBC, there is a great article on ABC about it. CNN had it on the front page but not as a main story, as did Google News. Not sure about Fox though, they've been pretty quiet.

    Huge coverage today, and the campaign is booked solid with media engagements all week. The campaign is estimating that the "earned media" from the fund raising is probably worth 8 figures.

    CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, Fox etc. Even the foreign papers in Israel and England have picked up the news.

    Paul's Money-Bomb Throwers

    "What he's done -- what his supporters have done -- is astonishing," Ed Rollins, who managed Ross Perot's campaign in 1992 and served as an adviser to President Reagan, told The Trail. "You can't dismiss his anti-war vote. You can't dismiss the power of one man standing up with a powerful message. I'll tell you, I've been in politics for 40 years, and these days everything I've learned about politics is totally irrelevant because there's this uncontrollable thing like the Internet. Washington insiders don't know what to make of it."

    Apparently the economy is doing pretty well, for so much money to be raised on one day ;)

    Imagine how much more use he could get out of that money with a better value on the American dollar! :p
