I currently have an Alexa rank in the 400,000 but I have no clue what exactly it means and how does it help my website. Does it improve SE positioning? Does it increase traffic?
It gives people a somewhat 'clear' view on how popular a website is. Plus some extra's like who link to it, who visits it etc. As far as I know it doesn't really have any influence SE positioning, nor will a lot of people find your website cause of Alexa. It's more like the online yellow pages... something like that. And it does not give a proper view about the popularity, because only people with the Alexa toolbar are being registered as visitors, I believe.
It does not improve SERP position. It is only a basis of a site popularity. It's more on traffic but the calculated traffic of alexa is just an estimated, not accurate.
Alexa is best used as a guide for marketing and traffic analysis. It can help your SEO research but not influence your SEO results.
Yah, I can understand that....I use it at times when evaluating a link partner....In your opinion, what is the best tool for "quality" site, some say PR I have a pretty decent PR - 2 well at least since I have had the site for a month...a help?
Apart from traffic ranking it help in analyzing traffic ranking of your competitors, that is one of the good feature over there.
No it doesnt, It jsut gives you an idea on how popular your site is. And Alexa is not accurate. It retrieves data about webtraffic from Alexa toolbar installed on Browsers. Alexa toolbar is not very popular and not everyone uses it. SO the data cannot be accurate. It just gives you an idea how popular your site is. More traffic your site receives from alexa community , your rank in alexa will be improved.
True! I find Quantcast a better website to see the traffic ranking of competitors. However they only have detailed info on the larger players and people that use the quantcast piece of code, but it gives some nice info imo!
Well a quality site has too much factors that determine that it is quality or not. I'd say if you have a steady amount/percentage of new visitors that keep your site growing AND you have a great percentage of new coming visitors, then you have a quality website. Also have a decent amount of pageviews per visitors would be a nice thing. If you have a community site and visitors view an average of 1.1 page, that obviously isn't good Best way to see that, and analyze this is using google analytics I guess.
It is not related in terms of SERPs but it is about the approximate computation of traffic per month(visitors). Here's what alexa ranking is: Don't rely on Alexa Ranking because it can be manipulated....
Alexa seems to rank according to how many people with toolbar are viewing your site that selectively rank it according to your comparision with website in general. Is it based on traffic, combination of SE factors....Still not 100% sure... Vibes
Alexa is pretty much a waste of time. It is very inaccurate and can give a good rank to a site with less traffic than give bad rank to a site with good traffic. Any rankings you see from alexa should be taken as potentially being way way off. If you want to fake that you have way more traffic than true on your own site, just install the toolbar and get a couple friends to install it too, and visit your site every day.... it will suddenly jump way up in the alexa rankings. what a joke it is
Alexa is a ranking system like yahoo and google. But no one really cares abotu it. THats the only difference.
Alexa ranking is vry Standard & Global SE Ranking, beyond the Google, Yahoo N MSN Ranking. If yr site ranking is weekly improvise in Alexa so definitely would be effect on another SE. So pretty good wid it. Gud Luk
Alexa is one of those few ranking systems around. It ranks sites according to their traffic. It is a measure of your sites traffic (measures traffic from those who have the Alexa toolbar, which may make up a fraction of your total traffic).
One good thing about akexa I might oint out is that it's tool bar can be used as a guide to find out how much traffic other sites are getting so that one can do joint ventures
