    I almost forgot!
There is POP-UP on submit page and once again info about charge and refund. :)

Definetely must do something blinking, flying and talking :D

Should I call Bruce W. or better Arnold S. for hiring his voice?
    What do you think?

A flashing picture of J. Lo may cause everyone to miss the submission guidelines.

Glad to see some other doing what I have also been doing with my Web Directory.

I also implemented the policy - with 50% refund if site declined and 50% as review fee:)
Since than I never had a submission on that directory ( it used to pull in quite few before).
But I am not bothered at all- :) and I'll continue implementing the policy on that directory.

The policy is mentioned on the submission page with very big fonts.:)

That makes me worry and wonder though jhnrang, its maybe not a solution if it causes a further problem.

Its your directory, i respect that your calling the shots, but it can become a case of cutting your nose off to spite your face.

It does take some time to review a web site, and if you plan on managing a quality web directorie you should normally charge for a review fee, as time costs money.

The thing is if a submitter decides to tell their pals that you keep a little bit of their money regardless, it may mean you end up with a lot more free time in the future.

It does take time to review a website that you will accept (editing description/title/deeplinks, checking the service, contact info,...). The site you will reject it won't take you more than a couple minutes :)

Hi Pete, i mean i totally appreciate it from the directory owners view, being one myself, but as i know you understand, its worth seeing it from the user/submitters viewpoint.

mhamdi, a valid point there regarding less time for rejection.

If I understand your post, you are saying that you only look at the basics of a web site? What about the speed of a web site, content, design etc? There are many aspects that you judge as a editor, it's not a click away.

If you are going to reject a web site, you don't reject it right away you go through the listing just like any other. It does take some time, depends on how you valuate your time.

Then you must go to PayPal, make refund, write the reason...
This is more than just reject.

This is also something that should learn some submitters they shouldn't submit each and every spammy site expecting approval only because they paid.
This should learn some not every directory is one big TRASH.

This is something many leading BIG directories do from ages (Yahoo, BTW, etc)
Some of our directories looks much better that mentioned above, giving much more - why shouldn't it play same game?

If you're not thinking of making quick money - have longer perspective - this is right way to go with your directory I think.

But of course this is always someone's decision what to make with your own directory.

Whatever - reading and watching is a skill I definetely require from submitter.

    Thanks.
