heres the story... two days a go i sold 2 vccs and $20 of egold to this friend of mine, he paid me by Paypal, instant payment but unfortunately, he opted for goods or ebay items and left "Dual Shock Sony PS3" on the memo. and today i logon to my paypal and found out that the money he sent me is "Temporary Hold" by paypal, so i contacted the guy and it turned out that his paypal account has been limited. now paypal open a case on me and asking me to choose one of these question for information purpose (seller's protection, eh?): so what should i do here? any inputs are welcome thanks
Well, I believe your friend knows that it is against Paypal regulation to do funds exchange or sell stored value cards and probably provide a memo about the PS3 to try to foil Paypal. I guess Paypal found out about it. Just opt to refund paypal and hope for the best. If you select option 1 or 2, you will inevitably need to provide proof of delivery and that can be a very serious problem.
yeah i'm also aware of that boss, i guess its safer to declare a "service" instead of "goods" for buying these kinda "items" in the first place. i thought he knew that... so you're saying that i should go for option 3? but the thing is, i'm short of balance now on my paypal, they already hold my $16 so theres only -$16 (negative balance) left on my account right now... btw thanks for kindly responded
Well, if the amount is on hold and you returned it, there should not be a negative balance if you have not withdraw or spent the money your friend sent you. All that would happen is that your balance would revert back to $0. Then just go to your friend to pick up the money. If your account is indeed short of funds then just contact Paypal, cut a check and mail it to them to cover the shortfall. Actually, it is not safe no matter what you declare since the things you sold are restrictly prohibited by paypal. You can only fool them only a few times but not more. I mean how much was the amount of money he sent you and how much is a Dual Sock Sony PS3 anyways ? If the prices is vastly different from what he paid, it would inevitably raise many red flags here. If you ask me, I would say refund the money then go fund the balance so as to get back to zero balance. If that does not work then just forget the account and consider it as a lesson not to do what is prohibited.
yeah, that appear to be the problem here. i've spent all the money he sent... so i need to make a zero balance first before i can refund the money to the guy? can i still receiving money in this condition? i'm actually doin some projects for a couple of clients right now, so i can expect payments arrive in my paypal once i completed the jobs, will this do enough to resolve the case? o yeah i wonder whether this case caused by his limited paypal (with the memo) or me spent his money away to another person? thanks for any thoughts
You will need to contact Paypal for that since I do not have any of the information which they have regarding your account. If his account is limited and yours too then it most likely has nothing to do with you spending the money. Make sure that for your current clients, you use the Paypal Invoicing system to collect money and not have them send you the money through the Paypal Send method.
Where is the problem if it is "your friend" just to refund the full amount. Your account will become negative then but there is no problem for him to resend the money another time after some days. And yes, you can still recieve money normally because your account is not limited (it´s not limited in any way, is it?) of too many disputes. Hope this helps
hi boss, the problem is i dont have any funds left on my paypal balance right now, so the balance become negative now, it says -$16 (the guy sent me $32, so paypal hold the rest of my funds, it was $16 as of yesterday)... so any suggestions on this? thanks for replying
There is "no problem" in a negative balance (account won´t be closed or anything) and when he sends the funds then again after some days it is positive again. After some days you will recieve a mail from PP to get your balance positive again, that´s it.
ic thanks for clearing that up boss but what about the paypal inquiry? what should i do about it? thanks
sorry, its just me.. i call everyone i come across by "boss" anyways, thanks for your advice, green rep added.
