Increasing my traffic

I know this was discussed many times before and I've read most of the answers and tried them all but I'm stuck with an average of 500 UV per day!
My site is about tutorials www.tutorialsroom.com all original tutorials I write. I submit tutorials to many tutorials databases (about 40!), digg and stumble them, worked on SEO and now I'm in position 3 to 5 in many of my keywords which I thought was good. All I've done raises my uniques to the maximum of 800 the first days I publish a new tutorial and back to the average of 500UV!
My site is all indexed in Google (about 45 pages), my domain age is 8 months.

What am I doing wrong here? how can I have thousands of visitors daily? Does my site have to have thousands of pages to have thousands of visitors?
Please advise as I don't know what more to do... Thank you a lot for our time.

I just took a look at your site and my first impression was that the page was kinda 'boring'. Try spicing things up a bit, maybe some darker colours and some neit features would make the visitors stick around. Always try looking trough the eyes of the visitor when making your site... it needs to be attractive ;)

A nice design will maybe help visitors return, but it wont help get new ones.

You need to get some decent backlinks, on sites that "real" people search, not just to get a better PR.

Also, check how many people actually search for the keywords you are targeting.

You could try and change your SEO?? Your <h1> text is massive, maybe reduct it to the single word you want, and then have the full info below it:

    i.e:

    <h1>Rounded Corners<h1>
How to add rounded corners.. etc

Or make sure your h1 is the exact term people search. The same goes for each page's title -- it's well too long.

I like your site -- it looks good. and your tutorials are nice. I hope someone else can give you some good advice, as your site is a great resource!

You're on the right track, and you've already discovered one way to increase traffic - by adding new content. Keep doing that! As your content increases, so will your traffic.

Another good way is to post answers at yahoo answers, linking back to the tutorial specific to the topic you're answering.

Visit other forums related to the tutorials you have and answer peoples posts.

    Keep up the good work!

Aging of domain is a factor. SE most of the times gives more importance to old sites.

In term of your website niche, I think you are doing pretty good already. Anymore traffic you will be looking into paid advertising.

At this point, you should stop putting all of your effort on this site, instead start new ideas and new websites.

It looks like your site is only 8 months old so I think 500 uv is pretty good for a fairly new domain.

@TheBiaatch: I wanted my site to be as simple as possible for my visitors to concentrate on the tutorials, I target rather more experienced visitors but if you think I still need some spices, please give ma ideas!

@cocoMonkey: Good SEO advices, I will follow them. Thank you for your nice words about my site.

@proinet: Good Ideas, I will try yahoo answers today :)

@cosmocentral's, gonka, Desception, sport302: Thank you for letting me know that my site is doing well with 500 UV, I thought it was not good because I read about sites getting thousands of visitors daily. If I use ppc, will I still get visitors when I stop my campaign or they will stop too?

Thank you very much for you answers and your precious time.

I really dont think you need to start looking into ppc when your only getting 500uv a day.

I think the best advice i can give you, apart from the little seo tips above, is start writing articles based EXACTLY on what people are looking for (if your not doing this already)

    Goto this page:

    http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/

    Type: "tutorial"

Get a massive list of what people are searching, and aim for some of the lower searched terms (As they have less competition)

so for example "solidworks tutorial" that has 806 searches a month.

Now, you can either write an article/tutorial on that, or now enter "solidworks tutorial" into the search to get an even more specific result on what to write about. for example: "design mold solidworks tutorial" has 27 searches a month. That dosnt sound much, but there is only 1 other website on google with that exact phase. So you get less compeition, and you get 27 searches that will more likely go to your page.

Make lots of tutorials that target smaller numbers = less competition.

You can also post your tutorials to ezinearticles, that works well.

Doing the above alone, i've got about 1000uv to one of my sites. So you can easily double your uv before having to spend anything.

    Cheers

I think age of linking matter rather than aging of domain.

I did that two or three times when I first started, but I felt like the tutorials I write should be in my site and I didn't like to have them in both places because of duplicate content.
Also this didn't give me much visitors, only some backlinks.

In my opinion you should not spend any money on advertising. Make a daily routine, keep marketing. You will see results. I strongly believe you will do good in near future.
Lot of people get thousands of visitors within first few days. How you think its possible? In most of the cases they have network of sites they use, in some cases hundreds. They use them for advertising the new site. Also in some cases they use stumbleupon/digg etc which I would say doesn't have much value. I would rather be happy with solid 500 daily UV rather then 50000 stumbleupon/digg visits.
