Okay, my site's name is "Virtual pet list" so if I build links with "virtual pet list" as the link anchor - would I eventually rank on the first page for "virtual pet?" Virtual pet is in my domain name - so it's only time before I rank for the keyword, right? Or should I build links with "virtual pet" as my link anchor?
Hello ForgottenCreature... (I know you from the day 1 )....See I think it( virtual pet list) does help to some extent...Yeah it seems to help a little bit - but how much!!!! ..........changes all the time. I think it can also be problematic and lead to a flag for keyword stuffing, when the domain name is mentioned in the text and anchor tags a lot. Yeah you have to do a little excercise for 'virtual pet' . ...I think.... Regards Narender Pal Singh
It depends how many other sites are targeting that phrase, and how they've optimised. So the answer is "not necessarily". Wrong. Simply having the phrase in your domain name doesn't mean you will rank for that term. The search engines are sophisticated creatures and look at more than just the domain name.
It's going to take time and patience, but you should certainly continue using the link text "virtual pet". If you are also wanting to target the phrase "virtual pet list" then you can use a combination of the two as the link text. But, I don't recommend using "virtual pet list" if all you want to do is target "virtual pet". I think patience is the key thing to remember. It's a lot harder to launch a site now than it was 5 years ago. Good luck!
That's correct, but what about this blogger that built links with "The ultimate neopets cheats" as her link anchor and now ranks for "Neopets cheats"? http://blogs.cnet.com/8301-13530_1-9753204-28.html?tag=head
I would be looking for old tomagochi and chia pet sites to get links off of. They seem related, and since they're old you can prolly work some good link juice.
