I have done alot of research on backlinks comeing from competitiors sites. Most of these backlinks are from banner ads on other boating sites. Does anyone think that it would be wise of me to contact these web masters and ask for anchor links, and let them know I'm not really interested in the banner ads. Also would these be worth paying for? I know this is something that I should do, but the reason I ask is I feel like these webmasters will think it's spam and just delete my emails. Does anyone have any advice on the best way to contacting these webmasters with out looking like spam? Thanks
getting backlinks from sites where your competitors are getting links from is for sure a good idea. you can contact them but if some sites are offering banner ads, not all of them will agree to give you anchor text link. but you can contact them and see if you can work something out
This is the best way to get links to your site, in my opinion. When you contact a webmaster to ask for a link just try to make it sound more personable and not like spam. If your website is relevant and the webmaster likes it there is a good chance they will link to it. I find that, probably more than half of all sites you contact - you will never hear from. A few will reply and ask for a link back to their site and a few more will place your link without asking for a link back.
I agree. If you can write the email in a way that shows that it's not just a form letter, then you'll probably get a better response. I find threeway links are good too. In one case, I have two sites of similar content. Link to them from one, they link to your main with the other. It's an incomplete triangle that wouldn't be seen as a "link building scheme" by Google. As you mentioned, always focus on related content.
YES for sure. When I send an email requesting a link I dont mention a link back in the message but if they request it I agree. Just remember, from my viewpoint, this is all about generating targeted traffic to your site and not for PR gain.
Will linking back help with with your rankings? I don't really keep track of my PR to much. I dont understand how it helps me. So I try to focus on ranking higher mostly.
Dont let others fool you, getting reciprical links still work! They may have lost some value in google but they still work.
Write a professional email complimenting there site and be very specific about what you're looking for. If your first email is not answered keep on sending them until you get a response.
I have a bunch of 4000 link partners which I successfully swapped links for the last couple of years. I always did in this way: First I placed a link to their site and then emailed them that I found their site useful and interesting for my visitors and already placed a link to them. And I would be very happy if they linked back to my site, and offered my own link code in two versions, html code and title, url, description I also asked them to email me back telling where my link is located. If within 2 weeks I didn't get a response I emailed second time telling that this is the last request. Then in 2 more weeks I deleted their link emailing them once again and telling I was very unhappy to delete their link. I'm using a good script which automated this process completely on up to 50 of my sites from one single panel.
