I have never done any SEO, and should say I know very little about it. If anyone can tell me how to do it, and if I should use any software whatsoever. Anyway any help will be greatly appreciated!
Do not use software. Do keyword research firts. Find keywords for site that have good traffic but not alot of sites listed for it in search engines. Than make site with those terms for keywords and in text of pages. Add site to directories and any place you can get free links to your site. Make sure to use some terms your after in text of the links to your iste.
Sounds stupid, but SEO for Dummies breaks it down in a hundred pages and lays out the basics. I got it for free as an e-book, and I had only a few questions when I was done. Shoot me a PM for some tips.
You should do some google searches on the following key terms... - SEO Tutorials - SEO Guides - SEO White Hat - SEO Wikipedia (Wikipedia has a great article) This will get your started, then come here with some direct questions and we can assist you much better.
Thanks for saying the same thing I did, maybe he didn't understand it the first time. You did this in another post as well, very naughty.
Make sure you have quality unique content your visitors will love to read. Do not start link bilding campaigns left n right. Get selected links related to your site that will give you PR boost along with some quality traffic.
Download a book from Brad Callen named "Search Engine Optimization made easy" This will defiantly help you in getting start. http://www.meilach.com/downloads/free_downloads.htm
Start doing keyword research using Worktracker, Overture, GoogleAdwords... Once you are sure of you keywords to appear in SERP go for quality content. Once you get some quality traffic start doing link exchnages, directory submissions, blogs, articles.... It would take anywhere from 3-6 months for good placement. Google and find what are black hat techniques and avoid them for sure.
