Ron Paul is in the process of passing $2,000,000 raised in a single day. The record for most money raised in a single day by a primary candidate was Mitt Romney on January 8th, with a total of $3.1M. We are fast approaching that number, and whether he pass it or not, there is no denying that Ron Paul is a serious, top tier candidate, after this wonderful November 5th.

For all those Ron Paul supporters out there who have not donated, do so before 12 tonight! And for anyone who was not sure about Paul, let this day tell you how serious America is about having Ron Paul as our next president.

Yes, and no. The date today was partially because of Guy Fawkes and later V for Vendetta, and partially just a random date to do a huge fund-raising drive. There have been a few "money bombs" in the past month or two, but nothing on the scale of today.

The other ironic part about the date, is that V in the movie promises that a year from that day (November 5th), the world would change entirely. Well a year from today, we will be finishing up the count from the November 4th election, and will have chosen a new President.

So yea, a lot of the symbolism is about taking back our country, and about really surprising anyone who doesn't believe in the power of this movement. :p

Heh! RP supporters just make shit up as they go along, so I thought I'd throw a few in there as well :)

Here's a few more I found "out there:"

Ron Paul taught John Wayne how to ride a horse.

Ron Paul can strike out a batter in two pitches.

Ron Paul taught his old dog new tricks.

Ron Paul knows how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop.

Ron Paul knows dozens of words that rhyme with "orange".

God calls Ron Paul for advice.

Ron Paul is a constitutionalist because he wrote the Preamble.

I have nothing against Ron Paul and he is one of the few that I still have as a possibility to vote for, but...

Of course money wise is is a contender, but statistically (not online polls) how is he a contender? Or at this point is it only money? Just curious.

Update, Paul is on course for $4 million by midnight EST. This breaks the previous online record of (I think) $2.1 million and beats all GOP candidates for single day fund raising this cycle (Romney, 3.1 million).

At last count, the campaign is raising over $2,000 every minute, with a 11:00 PM EST Q4 count of $6.87 million. Bear in mind that the campaign brought in a total of $5.3 million last quarter, and offline donations from today have not been added into the working total of nearly $7 million.

There are some rumors that the campaign is not able to process donations fast enough, and that there may be a quarter million still being processed which has not been reflected by the real time ticker. No way to confirm this until tomorrow.

From a rough sample, the largest per capita donor states are New Hampshire, Idaho, Washington, Arizona, Alaska, Oregon, Montana, Nevada and Utah. 2 of which are early primary states.

Wyoming (another early primary), D.C., Colorado and Texas round out the second tier of per capita significant donor states.

The truly amazing thing is that the fund raising was not even promoted or initiated by the campaign. It was done virally, on and offline by the grassroots, a self organized, de-centralized association of supporters.

A watershed moment for the internet as a political campaign ground.

The interesting conundrum for the MSM is, how can a candidate have so many more small donors, generate more military donations, and bring in such a record breaking amount in a single day, and not be polling higher than low single digits. The answer just might be, that the polls are garbage and money and donor count is a better means to ascertain the true strength of a campaign.

People need to wake up, and smell the coffee. Paul is getting on ballots in states that Tancredo, Hunter, Huckabee and perhaps McCain do not have the staff to gather signatures in. Paulites are also becoming GOP delegates, to represent the Doctor at the RNC, another aspect of the campaigning that the mid-lower tier candidates cannot accomplish at this time with limited staffs and organizational infrastructure.

It's a great day for the Liberty. And the next money bomb (albeit smaller) is planned for Veterans Day, 11/11.

In associated news, Mike Huckabee's campaign website withdrew their donation widget today, after having set a monthly goal of $2 million. At last glance, the campaign had raised over $100k this month, and over $1 million last month.

Many of the telephone polls did not include his name, or bury his name under a second sub menu of options for lower tier candidates. The most recent independent poll in New Hampshire had him at 7.4% which is further along at this time than John Kerry or Bill Clinton. Since that time, Paul has started a television campaign, a radio campaign, opened an official campaign office in the state, and sent out 12,000 glossy mailers to Republicans in NH.

Operation NH has seen Dr. Paul supporters from all over America move to New Hampshire with their families, to canvass and phone bank for the campaign. For free and supported by private donations and personal finance.

Also, for the last 6 weeks, a coalition of PACs have been running television ads and newspaper ads on a regular basis.

The campaign is also the second GOP campaign to open an office in Nevada, and just this last week, opened 3 offices in South Carolina. This is in addition to the office in Iowa, which has been open for a couple months now, run by Iowa caucus expert, Drew Ivers.

So, yeah the polls are misleading. They frequently exclude anyone who did not vote Republican in the last two cycles, and Paul is bringing a lot of Constitution Party, Libertarian Party, Reform Party, Democratic Party and disaffected Republicans to his campaign.

now Gtech....come on...you can't give RP supporters that much credit. They clearly stole the list about Chuck Norris and just changed everything to RP instead of Chuck's name. They really arn't that smart.

Is it just me, or is this funny? The poster said "Mission Accomplished", yet 7 mil is way short of the "12 mil to win"....yep, mission accomplished all right.
