Hey, I would suggest you to go for an online business. Build an adsense website with lots of unique content, market the website properly and you can really see the income growing each day. Have you heard of ezinearticles.com? This website is expected to earn $20K per day. If you can get a website that has unique content and is marketed well, you can actually reach closer to the above figure. Also you can add affiliate banners and sell link ads to increase the revenue. So many way to make money, there is online and offline, i suggest you to try both and discover what better for you, but for me online is the no limited world . You may be try sport trading too. There is so many people make living just few hours a day.
Best advice I can give is to invest in a couple of websites, in particular ones you can see yourself expanding/marketing further than they already are. You should get your investment back within 1-2 years max, and then it's all profit from there. Plus, if you buy a site you think you can optimize you will end up making a lot more than the site was making previously, that way you make your investment back faster and end up with more profit. Until you decide what to do with the money, put it into an ING savings account, on $50k you should get about $250Aud (convert it to NZ) per month, not heaps, but better than nothing whilst you are waiting for ideas/inspiration. I would like into buying a corporate bond in a relatively secure company (liabilities < assets). At least for part of the money so that you could hold it as backup. Then I would look into buying some sites earning a good chunk. $25,000 could start up a really good network of adsense or affiliate sites.

you can't make big money without risks (Look at all those billionaires and etc) if you play it too safe don't expect very much in return
