After spending thousands of dollars on directory submissions over time, I've only run into this once. http://www.all4seo.net/ Submission was $12 was charged $5 dollars for the review, and refunded $7 after being denied. My suggestion is that directories do not do this, especially if peoples sites have good content on them which mine does. My site was accepted by over 40 other directories with no problems. Very disappointed.
I know the owner of all4seo and he is a quality person running a quality site. In addition it clearly states on the submission form what will and will not be refunded if your site is not accepted. http://www.all4seo.net/submit.php I also notice that you did not post the site you submitted. Was there a reason for that?
Exactly.. OP is trying to say that $5 was charged for only the review of the site.. And out of the $12, only $7 was refunded back! But it is clearly stated in the page -
Premier Listing is USD 12.00 If not accepted - charged USD 5.00 (for review) refunded USD 7.00 This is very clear and twice mentioned on pre-submit page. Always read guidelines carefully. I'm very restrictive for web sites submitted to this directory. I supply much more than simple review. Details, stats, reports of total 3 different pages for each listing. I edit each description manually, crete contextual resource links. I won't accept poor websites and additionally netstorm's site was just MFA one - what is completely against guidelines. 3 (or 4) x block of Google ads + 1x Bidvertiser This is even against Google TOS Thanks.
Well what you feel is low quality, has a few hundred hours sunk into it. I apologize for wasting your time, I'll submit to other directories.
I always read the guidelines when I submit my websites. If you read his guidelines, it is clearly stated what will happen if you site is not accepted. This is a topic of interest by many directory owners with about 50%/50% on each side. While I disagree with such guidelines, I think he has the right to do whatever he wishes with his directory. Here is a comment that I wrote a few days back about this topic: My comment http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=5011408&postcount=29 To read the thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=533675 ..
Yeah, I think that even can't be more said for guidelines than on all4seo.net Lot of rules are on pre-submit page: http://www.all4seo.net/submit.php Then you must agree to linking policy: http://www.all4seo.net/policies.php Finaly I have tips to be accepted: http://www.all4seo.net/link_tips.php Can it be more?
You could add a pop up with a flashing banner too! netstorm, you should read the guidelines of every single directory you submit to as they all vary slightly.
netstorm, i always give full refunds, i dont agree with owners not giving full refunds but i repect that as their wish to do so. As a few others have pointed out, always read and maybe read again, any submission guidelines, some are more detailed than others and i know some people dont want to spend too much time going over the guidelines, but you can now see why its a good idea to know what your paying for.
I agree with Dargee, when some time was spent on review of the site & also the OP has not read the submission guidelines while submitting. I really don't see any problems with the partial refund.
if you charge a review fee then why refund that fee after review just as its rejected? That means you're actually charging a listing fee and just pretending to charge for review. netstorm read the T & C properly next time.
Hopefuly a problem we will avoid as there will be no fee involved when you submit, if we acceot the submission we will draft it up and send back a preview, then if you like it you will pay and it will be plugged in live.
I have minimum bids on my directories and I spend my mornings refunding $1.00 entries through paypal.I dont agree with keeping any money if you dont intend to do business with them but as previously said they do disclose this.I think it is actually hurting your business though as most will not want to risk losing 5 bux per entry and will move on to a sure thing or risk free submission.
i bidded on your directory this morning, and it said minimum is $1, so thats what i bidded. Its up to you to keep on top of bugs in the script where the minimum fails to work.
