Hi, I am trying to make my website more trustworthy for my prospects. I use only paypal, so I do not 'need' the ssl certificates /seals myself. However, based upon my own experiences, that I feel a lot better when I see: -TrustE, -BBBOnLine, -VeriSign logo, -ScanAlert, -Sitetrustnetwork, or any other similar type of logo on a site. Due to the costs of the above I don't see the above as a solution. I have browsed several sites now and not found that "cheaper" solution that will allow me to put a seal on my site, giving the prospects the trust they are looking for. Does anyone have tips besides the above listed programs or ideas to let my payment pages gain the trust they need? thanks.
I believe that a page about the security of paypal is all you need www paypal com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/cps/securitycenter/buy/Protection-outside
HackerSafe.com is a good one, but if you can't afford some of the ones you listed you probably can't afford this one. BizRate has a good one, but you have to be running ads in their PPC program and get at least 30 sales from them before it's useful.
Could you be more specific on the type of services you sell? Might help to narrow things down as alot of markets have their own certification programs.
Why not apply for a D.U.N.N.S #. Most professional businesses recognize "Dun & Bradstreet" to be a VERY Trustworthy source. Heck the United states Government requires a D.U.N.N.S. # in order for a contractor or small business to apply for a Loan, Grant, Sub-contract work, Etc.... I have a D.U.N.N.S. # & I'm listed in the Dun & Bradstreet official site directory under "Scorpion Agency". I used to use a 140x60 banner showing my membership, I have taken it down temporarily due to site renovations. Once I find a good place for it, I'll put it back up again though. Oh, did I mention that it's free to apply for a D.U.N.N.S. #? Just be warned that not only does it take 30 days & a person to person phone interview to get approved, If for any reason a person applies & ends up conducting bad business, it will hurt them 10x more on a National (If not Global) Level in the eyes of all the respected businesses & government agency's that are members & use their services. Good luck to you!
If you site is not that big it doesn't matter much. Otherwise you can use a customized shopping cart with a security certificate.
What the eye said. On the ordering page you can also put a picture of yourself up, along with a personal intro., your e-mail address, and so forth.
Looks good, however that is not an option for me , as I am from Europe. Comming back to the question, what I sell: The service I sell is "advice". So technically people pay, fill out a form and get an answer. Might this be just a good business idea: a service that provides a seal, after some basic review of a website for a reasonsable price.
Here is a good site that talks about safe websites and the importance of Trust Seals. It compares some of the leading companies doing offering them. It's worth looking in to. gifts for cheap
