I had an account which apparently got hacked. Anyway, after a falling out with the host, I have purchased a new hosting account. I need all the files (only like 20MB) and settings transferred from the old host to the new one and setup so all the sites are back online. There are email accounts (like ) which I check using thunderbird, I need these to keep working without changing any settings on my end (all nameservers are pointing at ns1.classicmedia.com.au and ns2.classicmedia.com.au - I will change ns1 and ns2 so that they are pointed at the new IP's) There are a couple subaccounts which need to be re-setup so that they can login at theirdomain.com:2082 and have access to their account (and not the root ) It's cpanel and WHM fyi There is only 1 script, PHPLB If that makes sense, get in touch and we can talk and I'll send you the details and money
I can do this, but I'll say you ask your host first, as they'll generally do it for free if they value the clients
Will do. If not, how much do you charge? It wouldn't take long and I'm not on a big budget, so I don't want to pay alot.
Hey Matt, Do it yourself Login to cPanel and go to backup and then make backup of full site and then login to cPanel of your new hosting account and click on backups icon and restore your backup and that's it Thanks
I'll try doing it myself. Like to add hostgator are champs - their support is always online (that I've seen atleast, even at 3 in the morning) and their service has been great aswell (lets hope it continues )
Before you go through the trouble, do you know exactly what the hack was? Was it a root hack, or just a user level hack? What were the symptoms. I ask this because if it was a user level hack where they defaced the site only, or sent out phishing mails then moving to a new server will not help you in the least. The first order of business would be to identify how they got in so that it does not happen again on the new account. - Sebastian Rametta
yes Sebastian is right, you should examine the hack, ask your old provider to give you info on it, if it was user account hack, you should fix what ever caused it, mostly old versions of open source scripts are prone to such exploits also check that you don't have the hack uploaded to your new host as if it happens again they might think you uploaded something.
No idea. The only script on the server is a contact form - could that be it? It's a simple one I wrote myself, just gets the info from the text boxes and then mails it, maybe they did some sort of hack on it. They said it was root. None of the sites were defaced (thank god) just the server was taken offline. Not sure why, but they "couldn't fix it", and created a new account. How do I get my files off? They said they put them in a folder /OLD/ and I have no idea how to get to that
Well its good, people are helping out!!! without making it cheap.. all the queries resolved.. appreciation for all of the big people..
