I don't know. I just don't take rap as music anymore. Same thing over and over, with the same beats in the background over and over.

The rapping is getting harder to understand and the beats are all sound the same now.

One thing I like is the music videos are showing more booty.

    Neither is dying.

Rap is going down the drain. Sure it may still be popular with some people, but it is trashy and boring now. Any black guy with a good voice can be a rapper now, which is basically anyone smart enough to go to L.A. Real rap was Tupac and his crowd, now it is just crap.

as chris rock said, "i love rap music, but im tired of defending it"

we all know rap is doing just as well, possibly even better, than it has in the past, but it sure isn't the same quality. however, no way does that mean rap is bad now. it's just different.

The rap that consists of rich 30 year olds telling kids it's ok to be uneducated criminals is where it was 10 years ago. The gutter.

    Eh,

In terms of popularity you still have rappers coming out with #1 records on debuts, in which case rap/hip-hop isn't dead as some people make it out to be.

As for quality, it's dead on the mainstream front. For every Kanye or Common going for gold or platinum you'll have 5 or 10 Soldier Boy's. Even though the underground aspects of it has aton of garbage too, it's much easier to weed through since reviews on them will be more honest & blunt as oppossed to mainstream peeps such as 106th & Park spreadin bs on how every single video shown on there is "hot". -_- )p
