Stumble Upon India Scam

So I have been beating myself over the head trying to figure out how this guy in less than 6 months got 100 pages indexed in Google's main index and a PR4 in less than 6 months with similar content as mine because I have been working my butt off.

So I checked his backlinks in Yahoo which says he has about: 5,500

I have been killing myself for 9 months and only have about 1,000.

About 4,000 of his backlinks are from profiles on stumble upon all from AN, India.

How in the world does Yahoo and Google allow this to be credited. It is almost something to laugh at when you look at his backlinks.

So what is the deal are you guys in India all part of some big stumble upon conspiracy loophole in Google's algorithm? lol

LOL. Thats a great find so google and yahoo credits stumble upon links...I come from a very different part of India but what i get form this is that guy is creating stumble upon accounts and adding his own links to it. People out here are very hard working so it is possible. He getting 4000 people from stumble upon to link to his site is very unlikely. Actually from AN (it is a state out here) there might not be so many people having stumble upon accounts. Or if he is techie he might have built a script that automatically creates stumble upon accounts that links to his site. Blackhatter's this seems to be a great technique go try it out....:D

Getting 100 pages indexed and PR4 in 6 months is very ordinary, and unless he is using an automated script its hardly worthwhile. I wouldnt worry about him, sites like that are really easy to beat.

Indexed yes, but all in the main index in a highly competitive niche like stock investing is not that easy.

Plus his site is just all text no photos very basic. Just find it crazy how Google can hold so many other sites back; while, blatant spamming gets rewarded with high PR and rankings. I realize they will eventually catch him and kick him out, but it is just crazy sometimes.

I was not worried about beating him I was just more curious about how he pulled it off.

You've been adding your own pages to Stumble as well ... what's good for the goose is good for the gander?

Like Nestrer said, Stumble uses nofollow links, so they really aren't going to have SEO benefits. Traffic, sure, if other people agree that the pages are good enough to warrant the traffic. But they aren't responsible for Google's opinion of the site.

How did you get your idea that 72 % of your competitor's links come from Stumble? If it's from Google's link: command, that's only showing a fraction of what they know about ... in any case, it's whatever fraction of the site's links that aren't marked nofollow that are largely responsible for their position in Google.

vyomzandercage is right. That guy is definitely using a script which automatically creates stumble upon accounts with his own links. This technique has been known among blackhatters for more than 2 years as far as I know.

In my opinion, you must make contact with the site's owner/webmaster and demand them to remove the stolen content from their site/s in 24 hours. After that, if they don't, just report the fact to Google and demand their banning from Google's index. Good luck.

Many webmasters forget that humans follow 'nofollow' tags...

Stumbleupon = Lots of traffic - No SEO use.
Use CPM banners as Stumblers are not good clickers, nor do they buy anything.
But virally Stumbleupon is really good, gets me 2K - 4K visits everyday, with no effort on my part :)

Even the no follow links are counted by Yahoo, So the best bet will be using some stumble services from Services forums and get some back links to your sites. Also please edit the title as it is still not sure it is a SCAM ! if the content is copied from your site, report to Google and also contact his hosting company.
