Here is our real member Disguised and now we have another member Disquised.Hardly any difference in name.He copied his avatar also. Not only DP id,they are also scamming through yahoo/msn So be carefull with all ur deals.
There's already a few threads about this. The scammers keep getting more clever, which is kind of a shock.
Wow. Interesting tatic. Very clever... But we can't start red repping the copycat until he/she makes a post.
I had something similar happen to me but on IM http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=536926
lol that was me and that other person He tried contacting me twice on 2 different aim accounts after I blocked his first one. So obvious
Someone copied my username here too, and just added a period. He's not banned (surprising to me), but I busted him right away and it has not been a problem for me: my profile: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/member.php?u=20282 fake browntwn: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/member.php?u=62463 busted him here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=2447141&postcount=30 He even copied my avatar, which is my own photo of Tusky at my laptop, so he has stolen my copyright image as well. Cest' la vie
They're not all necessarily scammers though. Often times when someone signs up on a forum their username is taken and chooses one that's similar to it.
I am not sure if you are replying to me. But if you are, it matters not a bit if he suceeds with scamming someone. The fake browntwn not only copied my name, but also my avatar. That is an obvious attempt to trade on my goodwill and reputation - even if not for a scam. Further, he has used my avatar which is a photo I took and own, so at a minimum, he is a thief. Frankly, as long as he stays away, I don't care. Just pointing out that this happened to many people.
Dont worry it happens for everyone http://forums.digitalpoint.com/member.php?u=65976 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/member.php?u=66906 :O Amit
I think someone would have a hard time being fooled by a similar username to mine. The scammer would have to get a LOT of itrader and posts to look similar
btw getjimmy some one had added me on MSN and he has his MSN ID similar to ur nick lots of scammers r lurking around on DP
what their attention on doing this, use other person username and avatar? Im afraid to accept friend request from DP members right now
These type of people are just scum. Pretty easy to tell them apart though on your second look, but the first quick glace isn't so much a giveaway. I highly doubt those fake accounts will get much from here anyway if your paying close enough attention to who your dealing with.
