I've told it wouldn't make the same effect like 10 times in this thread. This has nothing to do with removing the ads completely from your site.

I'm aware of that "ads not being shown" problem, being experienced by a few publishers. I don't know why that happens for some as it doesn't happen to me. I'll check it out and report back.

    And yes, it still works.

no, you told us that you have never tried removing ads from the pages, so you don't have a clue what it will do.

i recently set up a blog with a theme that had blank pub i.d.'s in it, and the ads never showed up at all, as was mentioned above.

looks like google is on to this scammer trick.

Now that I've tried it, I know it does exactly NOTHING.

Plus, this is not a scammer trick. I don't know what your problem is with me, but I won't argue with you. Just move on if you're not interested in it.

Hey Leet, it only shows the ads for me if I remove the whole line, is it OK? Also, the sign "Ads by Google" changes to text.

And Leet, how much time do I have to wait until I put my pub-id back?

So, no ideas on why, for people like me, no ads show at all when the ID is taken out?

NOTE: Taking the whole 'google_ad_client = "";' line of code out makes the ads appear, but keeping the id in the quotes blank does not. Not sure if it would work with the line completely out. :-\

removing the pubid is just the same as removing the ads, you're basically resetting the smart pricing algorithm, which is applied over time based on conversions etc.

    Could you explain that better.

I have better theory,If you only remove google ads it probably wont work.
But if you place adbrite or bidadvertiser instead ,you will get better cpm because google bot will think you think about removing adsense.

Why do you think about this ?

ps.There is another way to increase cpm.Signup to widgetbucks and get 25$ signup bonus as well as 0.30+ per click.Easy 5-6 cpm or more. You can use widgetbucks along with adsense

I'm not so sure about that, seems a bit far fetched, but who knows. As for Widgetbucks, it doesn't work for everyone (like me). :)
