Folks, I need advice from you... I have a few sites with some PRs: 1. PR 2 (.com site; registered July 2007; with 810 links) 2. PR 1 (.com site; registered Jan 2007 but added to DMOZ last month; with 1340 links) 3. PR 1 (.ca site; registered in 2005; PR dropped from 3 to 1 for not updating it; with 240 links) 4. I just acquired a 2002 registered .com site with no links. Given that I have limited time and resources. Besides most of the sites are new. I am new to SEO and didn't know Domain Age is an important factor. What would you suggest me to focus on?
Other than number of links, also look at the quality of those links (more important actually). Anyone has relevant high PR links from authority sites (.gov, .edu, etc.). They all look like good candidates, #2 sounds better if other factors are pretty much the same.
If you are developing a site for the long term, do not underestimate domain age. For several key phrases in my niche, my site is #6-#7, and the only thing other sites have above me is age. Although, since you took over the 2002 domain, google may reset it to this date unless you keep the site similar.
The mentioned domain was in pending deletion and I bought it at pre-release stage. Therefore, it shows a creation date of 2002.
You're lucky then. With this domain being a few years old, you can easily get it to to rank pretty fast even without dmoz
