I have to say the internet is a full time job for me, I have been at it about 4 years now and I make enough to keep me happy but although I work in the comfort of my own home I work way more hours than someone with a 9-5 job.

But I still think its worth it.

Freelancing is one of the most stable businesses you can build up on the net. If you can build a client base of re-occurring work... you can make a decent living working for yourself.

It does seem like it can be lucrative. It's not exactly working for yourself, but big step towards it.

Trading time for money will, unfortunately, very rarely make you rich.

Selling your own product is the way to go or having a high traffic site that can provide the value of advertising to others. Build a few of those types of websites and it will bring you much $$$, or you can continue your tiny ripoff sites and affiliate programs that provide no real value to your customer which will leave you with a money funnel that is too small and capped. It not only takes hard work, but working smart and having the right ideas.

i've read that finding a narrowed down niche subject is a better, more lucrative way to earn money online selling info products, or "ebooks" if you will.

seems as if the folks doing this make a far better income than those that simply stick to IM money making basics.

while i myself have written quite a few ebooks on how to earn money online, every single one of them were written from my own experiences and i never use the "follow my lead and be rich by tomorrow morning".

i know this is not the case and as many of you have already stated, it takes lots of hard work and dedication to make it to the point of your own level of success with regards to earning online.

it is possible to make a couple of thousand dollars a month online from concentrating on simply reselling ebooks and other digital products, but it isn't easy to keep the momentum flowing and the couple thousand monthly consistently rolling in month after month.

again, it takes dedication and loads of work.

It's all a vicious cycle. I wouldn't get trapped inside the circle.

I have been online for the last 10 years firstly as a web designer and later as an online marketer. My first online marketing experience was with the Internet Treasure Chest, an online store that was about $79.99/mnth to maintain. I never made any money largely due to lack of seo and traffic generating techniques.

Recently,I have bought several "good" ebooks on online marketing this year alone from "big names" and some unknown authors. The ebooks are generally well-written. The interesting this is I have not been able to make any money with the $97/pop big-names ebooks. The ebooks that have helped me the most are the lower priced ones!!!!!

To cut the chase; there is no such a thing as get-rich in 24 hours as some ebooks are alleging. One ebook even suggested $1000 in 1 day!. The tactics shared in that ebook include information on creating your own ebook, a process that may not necessarily take 24 hours! (may take longer)

Anyone preparing to make serious income online must consider the following:

**Many hours online marketing on forums, article directories and other networks
**Commenting on others' blogs and guestbooks
    **Experimenting with PPC campaigns
**Buying domains and setting up hosting
**Writing and researching (you can hire a ghostwriter)

I made my first adsense check about a year ago and it was hard work marketing the site. But with time things get easier. You create more income streams and get rid of redundant ones. You learn "catch phrases" and how to write well thought-out keyword rich articles.

Then you know how to choose the right product to promote and where to promote it. Thats when the cash starts to roll in.....:)

You really need to find one product/market and learn everything that you can about it. Believe it or not, there is a market for almost everything. When you are first starting out, try not to make $1 million overnight, it will never happen. You have to think of this just like any other business. I agree with the post above about putting in way more hours then a 9 to 5.

Very good quote below, I have also been in the game for 11 years, and the journey has been amazing, and I have indeed made large revenue streams from utilizing my talents/skills/affiliate marketing/buying & selling traffic/automating income from any angle of the web I could think of. Lately I'm loving affiliate marketing, here are some stats and pics for inspiration - there is money in ebooks, there is money in all digital products that are GOOD products, there is money in servicing and 'how to's', online business is no different then offline business. There are more sharks online however you're either a marketer or a consumer trying to grow to marketer...

This is nice but still not where I use to be with my media company before all the outsourcing started, which forced me into aff marketing, and now that i'm mixing both it's a match made in heaven... It's more than possible and don't let anyone or anything discourage you!

Hmm, I should get my music site listed in porn directories ;)

Thanks for the inspiration in this thread. I work like a dog on my site and have seen very little $ yet. But traffic is growing, and it's all good traffic because the site is all original, interesting, unique content. If I keep up the work and keep an ear to the ground I think it will eventually allow me to just be a music nerd and not worry so much about income.
