Incorporating Adsense Into Blog

I have a blog on Shopping Online and I am having some problems putting Adsense on it. I am using the Adsense Manager plugin but how do I have my Adsense ads only appear in the two most recent posts without needing me to make the change every time I add a new post. I am adding the code to every post but after the 3rd post, it is a white blank space. How do I make it such that I don't get the blank space?

Will a white space appear if after the first 3 ads appeared?

I tried using the collapsing ad instructions on Orinity.com but then the ads after the 3rd is showing an error in IE7 and still showing a blank space on Firefox.

google says that you can have only 3 ads per page + 3 refferal links as far as I know because I am not into Google Adsense so I dont know about it.

I know that. That's why I want to collapse my ads after the third one. Isn't it stupid for me to manually take out the ad code from a older post everything I do a new post? Also, I want the ad to be there when people access the individual post page.

Actually, I definitely don't want to change to another template as I am hiring a designer to do an unique design for me. DoshDosh's recommendations don't really go with my ideas as I prefer a fixed-width design rather than liquid width. I just want to make the white space disappear for now.
