Sup all. I have a really great site that gets indexed very well. I want to add a seperate site to it basically. Im not sure if i should do a subdomain newsite.oldsite.com or a add on folder oldsite.com/newsite

    Any ideas? Does it matter?

    Thanks

Will the separate site have anything to do with the original site? Will you be linking between the two of them at all? If so then I suggest just making a folder so your link juice will pass through to the new content. If the site has nothing to do at all with the original site and you will be marketing that separately then make it a sub domain as most search engines see a sub domain as a totally different site then the main domain name.

As far as I know, Google and other search engines TEND to see subdomains as sites in their own right, but see folders/directories as part of the main web site.

If this is correct, then it would make sense to use a directory/folder rather than a subdomain
