I don't know what you installed but my Beefed up Vista computer is fine. It runs firefox fast and smooth. absolutely no problems with my drivers.
it's windows ME. if you've tried all of them for at least a few months, you can say that ME is so so buggy.
This is true they release and operating system that sucks, then they fix it, then they release a new os that sucks just as much or more so that we can wait for them to fix it again, and then start the whole process all over again
There was no improvement in anything between windows 98 and ME except the graphics part. Microsoft always releases something which sucks in the beginning but works fairly afterwards. It released the speech recognition software and it sucked. THe totally embarressed themselves in front of the media.
I havent tried vista yet im useing xp still.. but some times i think to go back to 2000 i liked it alot it was faster on my old pc
Not microsofts fault that programs are incompatitble. Its the software vendors. They are too tight to spend money on developing their software for vista. They are happy to stay on XP as long as people are using it. If you use vista with office and just net for browsing then there are no issues. Microsoft are trend setters. It takes time for everyone else to follow and until that happens, vista is always going to be buggy with other applications. If you don't like change - stick to your x486 and windows 3.11
I still like windows 2000 Though I use XP, I still think XP is bloated as is, don't even let me on Vista.
Actually, the OS is not unstable out of the box. The software, drivers, and other crap placed on your PC make it unstable. You must be doing some crazy things to have 100+ processes. I have only 74 and I've installed a crazy amount of programs. About the RAM usage, it's not actually as bad as you think. Last week, I had 2GB of RAM and used about 50% +/- 15% most of the time, now I have 4GB and still use 50% +/- 15%. It's not that Vista is hogging it, it's that Vista is studying how you use your PC and caching your most used files in RAM for quick access. And that, good sir, is a fact. The more RAM you put in, the more it uses, less ram = less usage. With XP you could have 4GB and use 512MB... kinda seems like a waste, eh?
