From a recent USA Today article on "Gray Googlers" -- check it out: http://www.usatoday.com/tech/webguide/internetlife/2007-10-25-retirees-google-adsense_N.htm?csp=34 LOS ANGELES -- Jerry Alonzy figured he'd be working into his 70s at least. As an independent handyman at the mercy of weather patterns near Hartford, Conn., he'd always made a decent income that rarely grew. Then he found Google (GOOG), and his life changed. Alonzy, 57, now makes $120,000 a year from the ads Google places on his Natural Handyman website, and he couldn't be more thrilled. "I put in two, maybe three hours a day on the site, and the checks pour in," he says. "What's not to like?"
This article is what turned me on to adsense. There is no doubt if I am able to make that type of money at the age of 70 that I would still do it. It is a great "retirement" gig. Sure the hell beats handing out smiley stickers at the door of Wal-Mart or working at McDonalds.
I am pretty close ( not fully but more than half ) to his situation. and my guess is that HIS success above all is the result of his age = experience as a practical professional having manifold experiences from REAL life work rather than MFA, fortex, or other office/admin work etc. hence success in web publishing above all is for OLDER experienced professionals with decades of real work experience in life willing to share all the accumulated expertise of skills and knowledge applicable to REAL life by REAL ppl in every day's situations, at home, at work, etc.
