As a young man Darwin believed in christianity, but in 1851 when his daughter died he rejected religion entirely, and when asked about his religious beliefs he said he was agnostic. that is how it stayed up until, And after, His death.

God took his daughter. I would think you would be mad at the one who did that and would reject him also, however he did repent on his deathbed, so he died as a christian

    ask lady hope

It was on a glorious Autumn afternoon when I was asked to go and sit with Charles Darwin. He was almost bedridden for some months before he died. Propped up with pillows, his features seemed to be lit up with pleasure as I entered the room. He waved his hand towards the window as he pointed out the beautiful sunset seen beyond, while in the other he held an open Bible which he was always studying.

"What are you reading now?" I asked.

"Hebrews," he answered, "still Hebrews. The Royal Book, I call it." Then he placed his fingers on certain passages and commented upon them.

I made some allusions to the strong opinions expressed by many unbelievers on the history of the creation and then their treatment of the earlier chapters of the book of Genesis. He seemed distressed, his fingers twitched nervously and a look of agony came across his face as he said, "I was a young man with unformed ideas. I threw out queries, suggestions, wondering all the time over everything. And to my astonishment the ideas took like wildfire. People made a religion of them." Then he paused and after a few more sentences on the holiness of God and the grandeur of this Book, looking at the Bible which he was holding tenderly at the time, he said:

"I have a summer house in the garden which holds about thirty people. It is over there (pointing through the open window). I want you very much to speak here. I know you read the Bible in the villages. Tomorrow afternoon I should like the servants on the place, some tenants and a few neighbors to gather there. Will you speak to them?"

"What shall I speak about?" I asked.

"Christ Jesus," he replied in a clear emphatic voice, adding in a lower tone, "and His salvation. Is not that the best theme? And then I want you to sing some hymns with them. You lead on your small instrument, do you not?"

The look of brightness on his face I shall never forget, for he added, "If you take the meeting at 3 o'clock this window will be opened and you will know that I am joining with the singing."

This lady hope is a nobody.

"The story was initially printed in the Boston Watchman Examiner. Then The story was quickly spread, and the claims were "republished" as late as October 1955 in the Reformation Review and in the Monthly Record of the Free Church of Scotland in February 1957. However, Later careful investigation proved that the story was nothing but Hoax. Darwin's family including his son and daughter discredited the Lady Hope story."

Like i said, Filthy lie. please, Show a bit more respect for the dead who aren't here to refute this filth themselves.

Ok, I will accept the story is at least not likely true, the story was however originally submitted anonymously, and can not be trace to Christians specifically. However due to the fast spread, many Christians did accept it, and who wouldn't, at first glance. But you fell to mention many Christians today even doubt the story to be completely true.

On my behalf it was only lack of complete research, i just wanted to point out that its not just a filthy Christian lie, but more likely the same lack of complete knowledge on that specific issue.

Christians were responsible for one of the largest genocides in history, right up there with hitler and stalin, but they did it in the name of god. Lets go back to 1099 and the siege of Jerusalem. Crusaders murdered almost every inhabitant of Jerusalem. Muslims, Jews, and even eastern Christians were all massacred in the name of god.

Is the church that your part of registered? i know you dont attend the usual type of church, as mentioned.

Are there any legal requirements in your country regarding holding a meeting that is seen as religious? do you welcome newcomers or is it a closed thing?

Thats funny, over 20,000 christian knights commited this act of genocide in the name of your god, with the complete backing of the church and almost all of Europe. The religion you follow did this, you can compare apples and oranges all day, this is what they did.

Religion is nothing but a way to control people, and controlled you are. If you want to worship and imaginary person like a 5 year old thats fine with me, just don't claim your religion didn't do the things they did do in the past. Murder, Rape & Pillage all in the name of god.

If anything exist out there, God created it. God created the entire world, everything in it. It does not just happen into exsitance.

I just created that site this week, inspired by this thread

:) But some things adapted and evolved, certain species from the oceans slowly moved into shallow water then out then became land creatures, god wasn't there molding them.

Theres a spider in the world that lives in a cave, in complete darkness all of the time, this particular spider has no need for eyes so it has none, god didn't create that type of spider with no eyes, it just changed to its surroundings.

A god wouldn't make alterations to anything, it would be like the god questioning his own worth, having self doubts, that is why i doubt the belief in any god.

So god created the WWW? and the forum where on, they all exist in their own way, you say if it exists then god created it? then he is not finished?

Edit: God wants you to be sitting online instead of saving his people? he wants you to hold church where you do, to worship him, instead of feeding starving children? he wants you to spread his word, instead of working on a vaccination to save thousands? he wants you to spend your life talking of his existence, while thousands die from war and disease?

    Your god wants this?
