Getting to the front page. Which means a lotta backlinks. From people with the rss feed on their own site.
How will back links contained within an RSS feed benefit you? The only benefit will be the traffic you receive and if this is the case the links including the rel="nofollow" attribute shouldn't concern you. It will make no difference whatsoever. Are you suggesting that these temporary links will pass on weight which could effect rankings? - Matt
the bottom line *IS* traffic is it not? What is the point for getting good SERP if not for traffic? What is the point of even raising PR if not for traffic? What is the point of getting links at all, if not for traffic? As a side note, I have incoming feeds on one of my sites that link to the main articles. These "rss feeds" are follow, though, umm, are not Digg feeds. Digg does not suit my niche.
The point here is whether or not certain social bookmarking sites include the rel="nofollow" attribute. In reality it really doesn't make any difference at all. Social media is for generating traffic and not for obtaining a link. xmcp123 stated that you will get lots of back links from RSS feeds. How exactly? RSS is dynamic by nature and a result the links aren't permanent. How will these links be factored into search results? Fact is that they won't so whether or not the links contain the rel="nofollow" attribute is irrelevant. - Matt
I do blackhat. 90% of my sites arent intended to be permanent. And most rss feed readers placed on sites are not no follow.
You're still missing the point. Why are you bothered about links in RSS readers including the rel="nofollow" attribute? RSS feeds are updated throughout the day. Whether or not those links carry any weight is irrelevant as it cannot possibly effect rankings. There just isn't enough time for them to be crawled and factored into SERPs. - Matt
Yes, yes it can. Some pages are relatively static. If someone has the tag "seo" from delicious rssed on their web page, I could care less. There's too low of chances of the SEs passing by. But I can hold the front page for several days. More than enough. Also, remember, for blackhat sites, we can't GET directory links, and it's best to come into google with a bit of a bang. The sites with the rss feeds are higher quality, and help it out a bit. Then dissappear, so the people syndicating it aren't even punished. Last point that makes blackhat different: It's about getting indexed. Those rss feeds/the people who post them on their sites get sites indexed. If I have a 10k page site, you think I care about ranking? nope. I care about getting my ass indexed. Which they do.
