    Hey,

I have a couple of suggestions I would like to state, as we all are aware of DigitalPoint is one of the largest webmaster forums around, and it has quite high requirements, based on this large online activity and amount of threads/posts it is quite obvious that it uses a lot of resources.

vBulletin isin't very nice on resources as well, it likes to use quite a big amount of resources compared to other forum systems (eg phpBB)

I have a suggestion that could help DP to the better, if you took a look at the main page, you will see on the bottom of the page there's a feature "Who is Online", I think compressing it so it only shows staff or completly removing it will be a great idea, not to mention it would use less resources and DP would certainly be much faster, especially the front page.

I certainly hope the staff takes this into consideration.

    Regards,
    Meti

I believe it is a fast forum for its' size, as well, though doing this could make it much faster, since there are less requirements on the server, each time you visit a forum, it retrives data from the DB (amount of users connected etc) such data wouldn't be retrieved if this option was disabled.

DP is generally faster for me than forums 1/10,000th of it's size.

Does it really matter if a page loads 0.001 second faster?;)

It does matter. How do you explain the high usage on the server? This way it wouldn't have such a high-pressure on the server.

I agree. Anyone can do a search for keyword "server" in all of his posts. He knows his stuff very well indeed!

Well, he loads up about 100,000 pages per day. Therefore, accumulating to about 100 seconds per day, multiply that by 365 days per year, and you're seeing hours!

of course, no one really loads up 100k pages per day :p

No wonder DP is slow someone is loading it 100k times a day. :D I wonder what the record number of pages loaded by one user is...

Exactly. Shawn knows what he's doing. Speed here is fast is. How can it get any faster? Removing who's online would be a dumb move.
