If so, then Wikipedia is wrong: Canadian individuals and corporations pay income taxes based on their world-wide income. They are protected against double taxation through the foreign tax credit, which allows taxpayers to deduct from their Canadian income tax otherwise payable the income tax paid in other countries. A citizen who is currently not a resident of Canada may petition the CRA to change his status so that income from outside Canada is not taxed. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taxation_in_Canada
It does doesn't it. I"ve been researching... It is the best IMO. Panama can be insanely hot and humid though but ... I'd rather be alittle hot then alittle cold.
True. With the Mountains though if you get bit by a snake you have to catch it or they will have no clue what anti-venom. It's a rain forest up there. El Valle is nice but still a Rainforest
You are not taxed on worldwide income if you are NOT a resident. If you are a resident for tax purposes you are charged on worldwide income. SO that doesn't work...
The top income tax rate in Spain is 48% (40% national + 8% provincial), plus there is a 16% VAT. But... that 48% is calculated far differently than it is in America. You are taxed as a different rate for each "portion" of your income. It's hellishly confusing, but the jist of it is that the rate is effectively less than 48%.
I don't have any first hand experiences. I've spent a lot of time in Olancho and never had a problem. La Moskitia and Olancho are great places to travel. Honduras is not as bad as Colombia. Some of the things that can cause problems are home invasions, carjacking and kidnapping along roads, gangs like Salvatrucha and M-18, armed robbery. For comparison on the murder rates Colombia - 77.5 deaths per 100000 inhabitants Honduras - 45 per 100000 inhabitants Costa Rica homicide rate of 6.1 per 100,000 people
Colombia was nuts. Motorcycle theft is so bad that all riders are required to wear their license plate numbers on their jackets and on their helmets. Every major building had it's own bomb sniffing dog. The automobiles had their license plate numbers etched into all the major external parts. One night when we were out drinking the police simply closed down the section of town we were in. We were forced to stay in the bar and keep drinking. It was a real hardship. When I left the country, a little guy in OD with a machine gun gave me a chest X-Ray to make sure I wasn't smuggling drugs in my intestines.
